8-Fold Helically Corrugated Interaction Region for High Power Gyroresonant THz Sources

A manufacturing study of a 0.372 THz 8-fold (8F) helically corrugated interaction region (HCIR) and measurement its wave dispersion characteristics are reported. This demonstrates the structure’s suitability as electron beam / electromagnetic in high power frequency tunable Gyroresonant source. The 8F HCIR has an eigenmode, which is ideal for broadband tuning, created by coupling TE 61 xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">23 modes. Maximum handling 14 times larger than 3-fold at same calculated. xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">11 to 7-fold (7F) waveguide (HCW) mode converter, needed measure HCIR, was designed constructed. Negative aluminium mandrels 7F HCW converter were manufactured. Copper structures constructed through electroforming. measured agreed well with simulated characteristics.
