چکیده
PurposeWith the obesity epidemic and its consequences, prevalence of end-stage heart failure in this population continues to rise. Advancements left ventricular assist devices (LVAD) technology, such as HeartMate III (HM3), have allowed become feasible alternatives transplantation destination therapy (DT). Patients previously excluded from transplantation, may now benefit technology spite their body mass index (BMI). Though it's been shown decrease survival, increase rates graft complications studies assessing relationship between LVAD outcomes are lacking. Our study aims evaluate associations BMI recipients.MethodsThis is a single-center retrospective observational study. Subjects who underwent implantation 2018 - 2021 were included analysis. Chart review was performed pre- post-LVAD clinical data abstracted including within 3 months prior surgery, baseline risk factors, postoperative (GI bleeding, stroke, driveline infections, death). Time-to-event analysis using uni- multivariate Cox Proportional Hazard regression models.ResultsData 57 subjects (64.7 ± 12.5 years; 26 % female; 72% white) analyzed. Average patients 33.5±8.2. There no statistically significant association adverse outcomes: survival (HR=0.99, P=0.8), GI bleeding (HR=1.0, P=0.95), stroke (HR=0.98, P=0.77), infection (HR=1.04, P=0.24).RV dysfunction associated with increased mortality (HR=3.29; P=0.028). Also, history peripheral arterial disease predictive (HR=2.2, P=0.008).ConclusionResults our suggest there recipients which could impact selection process for potential candidates. With recipients. Ventricular arrhythmias after left ventricular assist device implantation.
BACKGROUND Left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) have been used as a bridge to cardiac transplantation and as destination therapy in patients with advanced heart failure. The period after LVAD support is associated with ventricular arrhythmias (VAs) despite ventricular unloading and such VAs can have a detrimental effect on survival. Despite the increasing use of LVAD, little is known regardi...
متن کامل[Prosthetic aortic valve thrombosis after left ventricular assist device implantation].
Rev Esp Cardiol. 2005;58(7):863 863 A 54-year-old man had undergone aortic valve replacement with a valve graft according to the Bentall-Bono technique because of severe stenosis and aneurysm of the ascending aorta 14 years ago. He had been hospitalized several times over the past 2 years for congestive heart failure and progressive worsening of left ventricular (LV) ejection fraction, clinical...
متن کاملChronic LDH Elevation after Left Ventricular Assist Device Implantation
A 61-year-old woman who underwent HeartMate II left ventricular assist device placement for non-ischemic cardiomyopathy developed elevated lactate dehydrogenase within two weeks after implantation. After eight months of observation and several hospital admissions during which there was no evidence of pump thrombosis, she presented with clinically manifest hemolysis. During pump exchange there w...
متن کاملComparison of left ventricular geometry after HeartMate II and HeartWare left ventricular assist device implantation
BACKGROUND HeartMate II (HM II) and HeartWare (HW) Left Ventricular Assist Devices have been successfully used in end-stage heart failure patients as a bridge to transplantation, recovery, or decision. We set out to compare their effect in off-loading the left ventricle and its geometry. METHODS The left ventricular end diastolic (LVEDD) and end systolic (LVESD) diameters were compared betwee...
