(763) The Interaction of Nutritional Status and Body Mass Index on Outcomes after LVAD Implantation

چکیده
PurposeMalnutrition and cardiac cachexia with low body mass index (BMI) are recognized pre-implant risk factors for adverse post-LVAD outcomes. The obesity paradox has defined a protective effect of higher BMI in terms outcomes heart failure (HF) patients. We evaluated the interaction nutritional state (estimated by albumin) on LVAD outcomes.MethodsA retrospective cohort study patients implanted continuous flow at our center between 2006 2022 was performed. Patients were stratified into four quartiles based status BMI. considered malnourished to be albumin <3.5g/dL well-nourished as >3.5g/dL. >30kg/m2 non-obese <30kg/m2. created 4 groups - malnourished, obese (MN-Obese); (MN-NonObese); well-nourished, (N-Obese); (N-NonObese). compared time first HF exacerbation implantation amongst groups.Results745 included analysis: 25% (n=185) MN-Obese, 45% (340) MN-NonObese, 14% (105) N-Obese 16% (117) N-NonObese. Independent status, more likely self-report Black (p = 0.021), have diabetes, hypertension OSA < 0.001 all). Obese had incidence than regardless (Figure). At 1 year, 20% MN-NonObese 13% N-NonObese been hospitalized 32% MN-Obese 37% 0.001). One year survival similar groups.ConclusionAlthough there no association survival, rate hospitalizations non-obese. Malnutrition appears increase hospitalization patients, but not obese. Further investigation is warranted understand impact long-term clinical therapy. A groups. 745 Although
