HLA antigens and toxoplasmic retinochoroiditis.
HLA (Human Leukocyte-A) antigens of 20 patients with toxoplasmic retinochoroiditis were determined by the standard microlymphocyte cytotoxicity test to see if these patients have different immunogenetic backgrounds from the normal controls. The results showed that there were no significant differences between the patients and the normal controls.

AIMS To document loss of central field in patients with scars from toxoplasmic retinochoroiditis close to the disc after resolution of disease. METHODS Patients with a clinical diagnosis of toxoplasmic retinochoroiditis were enrolled from four centres. Automated central visual field testing was performed when their disease had settled and retinal photographs of the lesions were taken. The typ...

PURPOSE Neurotoxoplasmosis is the most common central nervous system disorder in patients with AIDS. The occurrence of ocular toxoplasmosis in neurotoxoplasmosis is not well studied. The objective of this study was to investigate the occurrence of typical or probable toxoplasmic retinochoroiditis in patients with AIDS and neurotoxoplasmosis. METHODS A prospective case series was performed, in...

CLINICAL CASE We report four patients with both decreased visual acuity and retinochoroidal lesions compatible with ocular toxoplasmosis in which a diagnosis of active toxoplasmic retinochoroiditis or choroidal neovascular membrane was made based on a specifically designed diagnostic screening. DISCUSSION In the context of a compatible clinical picture, with retinochoroidal scars and low grad...
متن کاملInterleukin-1 gene polymorphisms and toxoplasmic retinochoroiditis
PURPOSE It has been proposed that cytokine gene polymorphisms can predispose individuals to disease by enhancing inflammatory processes. Considering the relevance of interleukin-1 (IL-1) in the pathogenesis of toxoplasmic retinochoroiditis (TR), we investigated whether IL1A -889 C/T and IL1B +3954C/T promoter polymorphisms are associated with TR in humans. METHODS We performed a cross-section...
