701 Rethinking alopecia scores: Correlating measures of hair loss with established photographic scoring systems

چکیده

Alopecia scoring systems have traditionally been designed to assess and track severity progression of specific types alopecia. Each system’s design clinical validation is limited only one alopecia type (e.g., Severity Tool score for areata (AA), Sinclair visual analogue scale female pattern hair loss (FPHL), Olsen top extent central centrifugal cicatricial (CCCA)), even though all forms share a common feature decreasing density. We propose that system measures percent would be useful across different loss. tested correlations between the AA, FPHL, CCCA underlying On dataset 284 top-view scalp images taken from 250 subjects, 3 raters manually scored each image using systems. After an intraclass correlation analysis demonstrated reliability raters, we established final consensus set scores per image. Using regression models, analyzed within types. Our results suggest there precise quantifiable these percent: both FPHL show logarithmic relationship with respect area affected (a proxy AA scale), resulting in R2 0.793 0.804, respectively. Additionally, linear other, 0.963. These findings distinct measure as feature, automated algorithm quantifying this photographs may applied

Alopecia scoring: the quantitative assessment of hair loss in captive macaques.

Many captive animals show forms of pelage loss that are absent in wild or free-living conspecifics, which result from grooming or plucking behaviours directed at themselves or at other individuals. For instance, dorsal hair loss in primates such as rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta) in research facilities, results from excessive hair-pulling or over-grooming by cage-mates. This behaviour appears ...

Determination of hair loss (alopecia) cause and effective treatment in laboratory rabbits

In number (16 of 22) of infants in the Dutch laboratory rabbit breeding colony, in aged 45-65 days old, hair loss (alopecia) seen at the top of the head and around a week after the hair fall, was created in a state of complete alopecia. For determination of the cause of hair loss, after the observation and palpation the alopecic area, there have not been any swelling, abscesses, tumors. In skin...

Alopecia Areata (AA, Patchy Hair Loss) — Causes and Treatment

Alopecia areata is a non-scarring hair loss disorder that can occur in any part of the body, ranging from a small patch to complete loss of hair, without significant age or sex predisposition. Although the exact etiology is unknown, several patient-specific genetic, immunological, and environmental factors have been implicated. The underlying pathology is probably peribulbar infiltration of CD4...
