چکیده

Canonical threefold singularities in M-theory and Type IIB string theory give rise to superconformal field theories (SCFTs) 5d 4d, respectively. In this paper, we study canonical hypersurface whose resolutions contain residual terminal and/or 3-cycles. We focus on a certain class of `trinion' which exhibit these properties. IIB, they 4d $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFTs that call $D_p^b(G)$-trinions, are marginal gaugings three with $G$ flavor symmetry. order understand the physics trinion M-theory, reduce 3d $\mathcal{N}=4$ theories, thus determining electric magnetic quivers (or, more generally, quiverines). free sectors massless hypermultiplets, often discretely gauged. These appear as `ugly' components quiver SCFT. The 3-cycles crepant resolution also but their is subtle, presence renders `bad'. propose way redeem badness using $\mathcal{S}$ realization. discover new S-dualities between different $D_p^b(G)$-trinions. A Brief Review of the Singularities in 4d and 5d Viscous Cosmologies near the Future Singularity

Analytic properties of physical quantities in the cosmic fluid such as energy density ρ(t) and Hubble parameter H(t) are investigated near the future singularity (Big Rip). Both 4D and 5D cosmologies are considered (the Randall-Sundrum II model in the 5D case), and the fluid is assumed to possess a bulk viscosity ζ. We consider both Einstein gravity and modified gravity, where in the latter cas...

D-brane Dualities as Canonical Transformations

We show that the SL(2,R) duality symmetry of type IIB superstring theory can be formulated as the canonical transformation interchanging momenta and magnetic degrees of freedom associated to the abelian world-volume gauge field of the D-3-brane. D-strings are shown to be connected under the corresponding transformation in the world-sheet to the (m,n) family of string solutions of type IIB super...

0 Log - Canonical Forms and Log Canonical Singularities

For a normal subvariety V of C with a good C∗-action we give a simple characterization for when it has only log canonical, log terminal or rational singularities. Moreover we are able to give formulas for the plurigenera of isolated singular points of such varieties and of the logarithmic Kodaira dimension of V \{0}. For this purpose we introduce sheaves of m-canonical and L2,m-canonical forms ...

Renormalizable minimal SO(10) GUT in 4D and 5D

Abstract. This report is a review of the present status of GUT, especially renormalizable minimal SO(10) GUT, and its future prospect. It consists of two parts. In part I, I review how the minimal renormalizable supersymmetric SO(10) GUT, an SO(10) framework with only one 10 and one 126 Higgs multiplets in the Yukawa sector, is attractive because of its high predictivity. Indeed it not only gav...

Quasi-hodge Metrics and Canonical Singularities

Throughout this paper we work over the base field C. The basic problem in algebraic geometry treated here is the filling-in problem (or degeneration problem). Given a smooth projective family X× → ∆×, we would like to know when we can fill in a reasonably nice special fiber X0 to form a projective family X → ∆, perhaps up to a finite base change on ∆×. For example, when can X0 be smooth? When c...
