چکیده
Abstract Background and Aims Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are one of the most common infectious complications in kidney transplant recipients (KTR), which great importance due to their high morbidity recurrent nature. Our main objective was evaluate effectiveness oral fosfomycin prophylaxis a group high-risk patients with recurrent/relapsing urinary infections. Method Retrospective study cohort 60 KTR frequent UTIs who had been prescribed daily calcium or trometamol every 7-10 days for prophylactic purposes. Demographic, clinical, analytical microbiological data were collected during year before after prophylaxis. Results The median age 61.8 (55.6-71.2) years, 68.3% men, 7.4 (2.8-13.6) years since transplant. etiologies underlying renal disease were: autosomal dominant polycystic 20%, chronic glomerulonephritis 18.3%, tubulointerstitial nephropathy 10%, diabetic In 51.7% there pathology (mainly vesico-prostatic disease, 24.8% vesico-ureteral reflux, 15%), history urological surgery 23.3%. Up 20% some type endourological device (permanent/intermittent bladder catheter, percutaneous nephrostomy, Bricker, etc). frequently isolated germs E. coli K. pneumoniae, 35.2 13.6% pre-prophylaxis 28.3 22.6%, post-prophylaxis, respectively. number UTI pre vs post-prophylaxis 2 (1-4.75) vs. 1 (0.5-1.6) episode/patient/year (p<0.001), reduction episodes 69% patients. Admissions also reduced, going from 35% 10% post (p = 0.001). After prophylaxis, percentage resistance increased 26 54%. greater multi-resistant isolated, 17.7 pre- post-. function remained stable follow-up [CKD-EPI 47.2(20.8) 47.2(21.2) ml/min post-]. Conclusion Oral may be useful despite pathology, managing reduce need admission this reason.

Oral Lesions in Kidney Transplant Recipients
Permanent immunosuppression is necessary to prevent rejection after kidney transplantation. However, it may predispose patients to different conditions and diseases including oral lesions. The most common benign oral lesions in kidney transplant recipients are gingival hyperplasia, oral candidiasis, hairy leukoplakia and saburral tongue. Oral form of Kaposi sarcoma, although rarely, can also be...

The relationship between the administrated dose of steroid and the grade of cataract was studied in 22 kidney transplant recipients maintaining a good graft function for more than one year. Posterior subcapsular cataract was observed in 19 patients, of whom seven showed severe cataract accompanied by visual disturbance. The total dose of steroid, particularly the dose in the period from three m...

Although the overall incidence of fungal infections in liver transplant recipients has declined, these infections still contribute significantly to the morbidity and mortality of patients with risk factors for infection. Although antifungal prophylaxis has been widely studied and practiced, no consensus exists on which patients should receive prophylaxis, with which agent, and for what duration...
