چکیده
Abstract Background and Aims Pre-emptive therapy, screen for treat asymptomatic cytomegalovirus (CMV) viremia, is an important preventive strategy CMV disease in kidney transplant (KT) recipients. Oral valganciclovir the most commonly used as strategy. However, optimal dose treatment duration of remains elusive. Method We retrospectively evaluated efficacy toxicity low-dose oral (450 mg twice daily) pre-emptive therapy KT recipients who underwent between January 2015 December 2021. viral load was measured by polymerase chain reaction. with applied 2 weeks. Results 33 received (55 cases), 32 (97.0%) were seropositive except 1 patient had no related information. Thirty-two T-cell depleting agent, thymoglobulin induction immunosuppressive treatment. Treatment failure, defined a DNA more than or equal to 1000 copies/mL after weeks treatment, occurred 3 (5.45 %) patients. No developed during therapy. The median copies patients treated successfully 487.50 (311.24 – 826.25), whereas 4420.00 (2535.00 137450.00) undergone failure. Conclusion These results suggest that low can be preventing among low-level viremia. Further research needed replicate these findings larger samples assess long-term outcomes.

Valganciclovir as pre-emptive therapy for cytomegalovirus infection in allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients.
BACKGROUND In haematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) recipients, cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection contributes significantly to morbidity and mortality in both the early and late post-transplant period. Ganciclovir (GCV) is the treatment of choice for CMV, but requires intravenous administration, a fact that complicates its long-term use. Oral valganciclovir (VGCV) and intravenous GCV were re...
متن کاملI-124 pre-therapy dosimetry for the treatment of differentiated thyroid cancer: A single center experience
Introduction:The maximum tolerable activity (MTA) of I-131 in radioiodine therapy is an established surrogate quantity to ensure that the therapeutic activity does not produce severe damages to the bone marrow and lung. The aim of this study was to estimate the MTAs for high-risk patients using I-124 pre-therapy dosimetry and to compare the results with published literature. <...
متن کاملSuccessful Cost-Effective Prevention of Cytomegalovirus Disease in Kidney Transplant Recipients Using Low-Dose Valganciclovir.
OBJECTIVES Low-dose valganciclovir prophylaxis is still under investigation in renal transplant procedures. Our aim was to assess the cost effectiveness of 450 mg versus 900 mg valganciclovir prophylaxis in kidney transplant recipients. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this prospective trial, 201 kidney transplant patients were randomized (1:1) to receive 450 mg/d (group 1, n = 100) or 900 mg/d (grou...
متن کاملCytomegalovirus Infection under a Hybrid Strategy in Pediatric Liver Transplantation: A Single-Center Experience
PURPOSE To evaluate the outcomes of a hybrid prophylactic strategy to prevent cytomegalovirus (CMV) disease in pediatric liver transplantation (LT) patients. METHODS CMV DNAemia was regularly monitored by quantitative nucleic acid amplification test (QNAT) and was quantified in all children. CMV infection and disease were defined according to the International Consensus Guidelines. The hybrid...

A successful transplantation, across a positive crossmatch barrier, is one of the most persistent long-standing problems in the field of kidney transplant medicine. The aim of this study was to describe seven consecutive living renal transplantations in recipients with positive crossmatch for donors or positive for donor specific antibodies (DSAs). A preconditioning regimen including plasmapher...
