چکیده
Abstract Background Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is the third leading cause of death in industrialized countries. Although most arrests are witnessed, survival only 2-10%, since bystanders often unable to correctly perform cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR). This study aims assess theoretical and practical knowledge CPR use automatic external defibrillator (AED) university students. Materials methods The involved a total 1686 students from 21 different faculties University Trieste, 662 health 1024 non-health faculties. Basic life support early defibrillation (BLSD) courses have been included made mandatory for their final years. Through platform “EUSurvey” March June 2021, they were given an online questionnaire 25 multiple choice questions investigate performance BLSD. Results In overall population, 68.7% knew how diagnose 47.5% time frame after which irreversible brain damage occurs. Practical was analysed by evaluating correct answers all four on performing (hand position during compressions, frequency depth ventilations-compressions ratio). Health better than colleagues (11,2% vs 4,3%; p value <0.001). Final-year medical students, who attended BLSD course underwent retraining, achieved results first year (38,1% 2,7%; Discussion needs be improved population. obligatory inclusion healthcare degree has led significant increase issue. Given this, we believe it important extend these

Quality of cardiopulmonary resuscitation during out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.
CONTEXT Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) guidelines recommend target values for compressions, ventilations, and CPR-free intervals allowed for rhythm analysis and defibrillation. There is little information on adherence to these guidelines during advanced cardiac life support in the field. OBJECTIVE To measure the quality of out-of-hospital CPR performed by ambulance personnel, as measured...
متن کاملEarly cardiopulmonary resuscitation in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.
BACKGROUND Three million people in Sweden are trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Whether this training increases the frequency of bystander CPR or the survival rate among persons who have out-of-hospital cardiac arrests has been questioned. METHODS We analyzed a total of 30,381 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests witnessed in Sweden from January 1, 1990, through December 31, 2011, to...
متن کاملCardiopulmonary resuscitation duty cycle in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.
BACKGROUND Duty cycle is the portion of time spent in compression relative to total time of the compression-decompression cycle. Guidelines recommend a 50% duty cycle based largely on animal investigation. We undertook a descriptive evaluation of duty cycle in human resuscitation, and whether duty cycle correlates with other CPR measures. METHODS We calculated the duty cycle, compression dept...
متن کاملCardiopulmonary resuscitation for out of hospital cardiac arrest.
BACKGROUND Dispatcher-assisted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (DA-CPR) attempts to improve the management of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest by laypersons who are unable to recognize cardiac arrest and are unfamiliar with CPR. Therefore, we investigated the sensitivity and specificity of our new DA-CPR protocol for achieving implementation of bystander CPR in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest victim...
متن کاملCardiopulmonary resuscitation alone vs. cardiopulmonary resuscitation plus automated external defibrillator use by non-healthcare professionals: a meta-analysis on 1583 cases of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.
BACKGROUND Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) accounts for 250.000-350.000 sudden cardiac deaths per year in the United States. The availability of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) promoted the implementation of public access defibrillation programs based on out-of-hospital early defibrillation by non-healthcare professionals. AIM OF THE STUDY To perform a systematic review and a m...
