3D THz-TDS SAR Imaging by an Inverse Synthetic Cylindrical Aperture

Terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) is a promising tool for high-resolution 3D imaging of objects due to the high center frequency and bandwidth compared microwave systems. In addition, terahertz waves have higher penetration depth than visible or near-infrared radiation. Typically, optics are used focus radiation onto an object under test. This limits capability in axial dimension field simple complex surfaces. this work, we adapt backpropagation algorithm from synthetic aperture radar (SAR) reconstruct images traces acquired with lensless THz-TDS system. For purpose, inverse cylindrical equation that describes maximum achievable resolution as function beam pattern, bandwidth, length derived. The calculated $960 \mu \text{m}$ linear 75 notation="LaTeX">$\mu rotationally symmetric notation="LaTeX">$2\,\text {THz}$ . resolving power verified by measurements on metallic dielectric objects. future, method can be non-destructive testing shaped surfaces internal structures.
