3D Selection of 167 Substellar Companions to Nearby Stars

چکیده
We analyze 5108 AFGKM stars with at least five high precision radial velocity points as well Gaia and Hipparcos astrometric data utilizing a novel pipeline developed in previous work. find 914 signals periods longer than 1000\,d. Around these signals, 167 cold giants 68 other types of companions are identified by combined analyses velocity, astrometry, imaging data. Without correcting for detection bias, we estimate the minimum occurrence rate wide-orbit brown dwarfs to be 1.3\%, significant dwarf valley around 40 $M_{\rm Jup}$. also power-law distribution host binary fraction beyond 3 au similar that found single stars, indicating no preference multiplicity dwarfs. Our work reveals nine sub-stellar systems (GJ 234 B, GJ 494 HD 13724 b, 182488 39060 b c, 4113 C, 42581 d, 7449 984 b) have previously been directly imaged, many others observable existing facilities. Depending on their ages an additional 10-57 objects within our sample can detected current facilities, extending imaged (or old) order magnitude.

Substellar Companions to Nearby Stars from NICMOSSurveysGlenn
A coronagraphic imaging survey of 65 nearby stars was conducted using the Near Infrared Camera and Multi-Object Spectrometer (NICMOS) on the Hubble Space Telescope by the Instrument Deenition Team. Using these guaranteed time observations we searched for very low mass stellar and substellar (extra-solar giant planet and brown dwarf) companions to young main sequence and late M dwarf stars. Nine...

متن کاملTRIDENT: an infrared camera optimized for the detection of methanated substellar companions around nearby stars
A near-infrared (0.85-2.5 μm) camera in use at the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope and at the 1.6m telescope of the Observatoire du Mont-Mégantic is described. The camera is based on a Hawaii-1 1024×1024 HgCdTe array detector. Its main feature is to acquire three simultaneous images at three wavelengths (simultaneous differential imaging) across the methane absorption bandhead at 1.6μm, enabling...
متن کاملSearching for substellar companions of young isolated neutron stars
Context. Only two planetary systems around old ms-pulsars are currently known. Young radio pulsars and radio-quiet neutron stars cannot be covered by the usually-applied radio pulse timing technique. However, finding substellar companions around these neutron stars would be of great interest – not only because of the companion’s possible exotic formation but also due to the potential access to ...
متن کاملRevealing Companions to Nearby Stars with Astrometric Acceleration∗
A subset of 51 Hipparcos astrometric binaries among FG dwarfs within 67 pc has been surveyed with the Near-Infrared Coronagraphic Imager adaptive optics system at Gemini-S, directly resolving for the first time 17 subarcsecond companions and 7 wider ones. Using these data together with published speckle interferometry of 57 stars, we compare the statistics of resolved astrometric companions wit...
