3D Modeling Method for Dome Structure Using Digital Geological Map and DEM

Geological maps have wide coverage with low acquisition difficulty. When other geological survey data are scarce, they a valuable source of structure information for modeling. However, structures large deformation, map has difficulty meeting the requirement its 3D Therefore, this paper takes dome as an example to explore modeling method based on maps, DEM and related knowledge. The includes: (1) adaptively calculating attitude points stratigraphic boundaries; (2) inferring generating bottom boundary model from points; (3) interface constrained by Bézier curves boundary; (4) top surfaces stratum; (5) stitching each surface body generate final model. Case studies in Wulongshan China Richat Mauritania show that can build solid only data, whose morphological features basically consistent those embodied section view or generated traditional methods.
