چکیده

Forest measurements using conventional methods may not capture all the important information required to properly characterize forest structure. The objective of this study was develop a low-cost alternative method for inventory and characterization structure handheld LiDAR technology. Three-dimensional (3D) maps trees were obtained an iPad Pro with sensor. Freely-available software programs, including 3D Software CloudCompare software, used determine tree diameter at breast height (DBH) distance between trees. point cloud data from sensor able estimate DBH accurately, residual error 2.4 cm in urban stand 1.9 actively managed experimental stand. Distances also accurately estimated, mean errors 0.21 m forest, 0.38 This demonstrates that it is possible use consumer tablet measure certain attributes, which could enable crowdsourcing other density because its integration into existing Apple devices ease use.

Using LiDAR Data to Measure the 3D Green Biomass of Beijing Urban Forest in China

The purpose of the paper is to find a new approach to measure 3D green biomass of urban forest and to testify its precision. In this study, the 3D green biomass could be acquired on basis of a remote sensing inversion model in which each standing wood was first scanned by Terrestrial Laser Scanner to catch its point cloud data, then the point cloud picture was opened in a digital mapping data a...

3d Forest Structure Analysis from Optical and Lidar Data

In Austria about half of the entire area (46 %) is covered by forests. The majority of these are highly managed and controlled in growth. But besides timber production forest ecosystems play a multifunctional role including climate control, habitat provision and, especially in Austria, protection of settlements. The interrelationships among climatic, ecological, social and economic dimensions o...

Estimating Tropical Forest Structure Using a Terrestrial Lidar

Forest structure comprises numerous quantifiable biometric components and characteristics, which include tree geometry and stand architecture. These structural components are important in the understanding of the past and future trajectories of these biomes. Tropical forests are often considered the most structurally complex and yet least understood of forested ecosystems. New technologies have...

3D Forest: An application for descriptions of three-dimensional forest structures using terrestrial LiDAR

Terrestrial laser scanning is a powerful technology for capturing the three-dimensional structure of forests with a high level of detail and accuracy. Over the last decade, many algorithms have been developed to extract various tree parameters from terrestrial laser scanning data. Here we present 3D Forest, an open-source non-platform-specific software application with an easy-to-use graphical ...
