366 Is acupuncture effective in treating symphysiolysis?

To assess whether acupuncture can decrease symphysiolysis pain and improve functioning in pregnant women with The study was prospective, randomized, controlled, crossover observer-blind. Forty of the recruited 56 symphysiolisis completed study. Mean age 30.1 years (SD 5.13); they were at 24 weeks’ gestation or later (mean 31.1 weeks, SD 5.8); tested positive for straight-leg elevation (SLE); had pain/sensitivity >5 on Numeric Rating Scale (NRS).Using a randomized list, acupuncturist performed real sham (RA SA). 30 minutes later, scored their pain. Improvement under 3 NRS points defined as failure. Patients crossed over next treatment — those previously given RA receiving SA, vice versa.
