چکیده
Abstract Background Recent studies have indicated the presence of IC arising within zone inhibition during fosfomycin DD testing. CLSI and EUCAST contradicting recommendations for interpreting these IC; recommends considering when results while ignoring them. Although testing is approved only use with EC per both organizations, it often used non-EC organisms despite neither organization publishing Enterobacterales breakpoints (BP). We sought to compare rates production among KP isolates in order assess applicability isolates. Methods A convenience sample 128 (80 48 EC) clinical varied phenotypic profiles from 3 United States locations were included. Of these, 26% (n = 21) 29% =14) displayed ESBL phenotypes 19% 15) KPC producing. Fosfomycin susceptibility via was conducted duplicate on separate days following interpretations recommended by each organization. Isolates considered IC-producing if at least 5 arose ≥ 1 replicate Results Overall, 61% 78) produced including 75% 36) 52.5% 42) (Table 1). that IC, 89% 33) susceptible 92% 34) oral IV BP. In contrast, 41% 17) 2% 1) The did not result significant differences diameters (1-14mm, EC; 2-13mm, KP) comparing procedures. Table 1.Production categorization based three sets BP This table compares collection different (CLSI, oral, IV) using entire subset (EC: 36/48 KP: 42/80). Conclusion categorized most isolates, those as susceptible. EUCAST’s larger measurements near identical CLSI. lower very few even IC. captures a more diverse consistent diversity measurements. These findings warrant further investigation into relevance KP. Disclosures Elizabeth B. Antimicrobial susceptibilities of urinary extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae to fosfomycin and nitrofurantoin in a teaching hospital in Taiwan.
BACKGROUND Urinary tract infections (UTIs) caused by extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae have become clinical problems because of limited therapeutic options. The role of fosfomycin in the era of growing bacteria resistance has been widely discussed recently. In this study, we aimed to know the local antimicrobial susceptibilities, fosfomyci...
متن کاملComparison of Disk Diffusion and E-Test with the Reference Method of Microbroth Dilution for Susceptibility Testing of Acinetobacter baumannii Isolates to Tetracyclines
Abstract Background and Objective: Due to the continuous increase of multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii strains around the world, decision making for an effective treatment of infections caused by this organism depends on the results of antimicrobial susceptibility tests. In this study, the validity of disk diffusion and E-test methods was assessed b...
متن کاملDisk diffusion susceptibility testing of Nocardia species.
The effectiveness of 13 antimicrobial agents against 51 clinical isolates of Nocardia was determined with use of agar dilutions and disk diffusion method. Amikacin inhibited less than 90% of isolates and, like the other aminoglycosides, showed good correlation between minimal inhibitory concentrations and sizes of zones of inhibition around the disks. Both sulfisoxazole and trimethoprim-sulfame...
متن کاملComparison of KP and BBM-KP Models
It is shown that the solutions of the pure initial-value problem for the KP and regularized KP equations are the same, within the order of accuracy attributable to either, on the time scale 0 ≤ t ≤ −3/2 , during which nonlinear and dispersive effects may accumulate to make an order-one relative difference to the wave profiles. under the Creative Commons Attribution License, which permits unrest...
متن کاملDiffusion disk susceptibility testing with cefotaxime.
The diffusion disk susceptibility of Staphylococcus aureus, Enterobacteriaceae, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa to cefotaxime was determined. A 30-mug disk provided data for the susceptibility of P. aeruginosa, but yielded extremely large zones of inhibition against Enterobacteriaceae. A 5-mug disk seemed to provide the most useful susceptibility data for S. aureus and Enterobacteriaceae.
