چکیده

Theory regarding metamaterials was developed in the 1960s, aiming to control propagation of electromagnetic waves. Under this scope, research has been focused on realization materials having specific characteristics be invisible and optics fields. These principles have expanded only recently acoustic sector, with capable controlling sound due interference effect between soundwaves periodic structural elements composing system. This paper deals attenuation analyzes a metamaterial barrier characterized by multiple rows different configurations. The variety configurations depends diameters wooden scatterers (i.e., 9 mm 15 mm) distance source closest edge 400 800 mm). Despite same height 300 scaled model, combination creating an highlights increase overall Insertion Loss (IL) broadened (instead sharp) band gap, captured 4 kHz 12.5 kHz.

Locating Multiple Multiscale Acoustic Scatterers

We develop three inverse scattering schemes for locating multiple multiscale acoustic scatterers in a very general and practical setting. For all of the three locating schemes, only one single far-field measurement is used. The number of the multiple scatterer components may be unknown, and each scatterer component is allowed to be an inhomogeneous medium with an unknown content or an impenetra...

Scaled marginal models for multiple continuous outcomes.

In studies that involve multivariate outcomes it is often of interest to test for a common exposure effect. For example, our research is motivated by a study of neurocognitive performance in a cohort of HIV-infected women. The goal is to determine whether highly active antiretroviral therapy affects different aspects of neurocognitive functioning to the same degree and if so, to test for the tr...

Nucleation dynamics in 2d cylindrical Ising models and chemotaxis

The aim of our work is to study the effect of geometry variation on nucleation times and to address its role in the context of eukaryotic chemotaxis (i.e. the process which allows cells to identify and follow a gradient of chemical attractant). As a first step in this direction we study the nucleation dynamics of the 2d Ising model defined on a cylindrical lattice whose radius changes as a func...

Acoustic characterization of Hofstadter butterfly with resonant scatterers

We are interested in the experimental characterization of the Hofstadter butterfly by means of acoustical waves. The transmission of an acoustic pulse through an array of 60 variable and resonant scatterers periodically distribued along a waveguide is studied. An arbitrary scattering arrangement is realized by using the variable length of each resonator cavity. For a periodic modulation, the st...

Temperature-dependent diffusing acoustic wave spectroscopy with resonant scatterers.

The influence of a slight temperature change on the correlation of multiply scattered acoustic waves is studied, and experimental results are discussed. The technique presented here, similar to diffusing-acoustic-wave spectroscopy, is based on the sensitivity of a multiply scattering medium to a slight change. Ultrasonic waves around 3 MHz are transmitted through a sample made of steel rods in ...
