متن کامل[Coronary artery anomalies].
Coronary artery anomalies (CAAs) are a rare entity but their true incidence in the general population has yet to be determined. Most CAAs are asymptomatic, but they are nevertheless the second leading cause of sudden death in apparently healthy young athletes. The new imaging methods available to cardiologists, including CT angiography and MRI, now enable noninvasive diagnosis and characterizat...
متن کاملCoronary Artery Anomalies in Animals
Coronary artery anomalies represent a disease spectrum from incidental to life-threatening. Anomalies of coronary artery origin and course are well-recognized in human medicine, but have received limited attention in veterinary medicine. Coronary artery anomalies are best described in the dog, hamster, and cow though reports also exist in the horse and pig. The most well-known anomaly in veteri...
متن کاملA rare variant of common arterial trunk.
A 13 day old baby was admitted to hospital with multiple abnormalities, increasing cyanosis, and cardiac failure. Cardiac catheterisation was performed on the day of admission and he died shortly after the procedure. A rare variant of common arterial trunk, in which the pulmonary arteries arose directly from the underside of the aortic arch, was found at necropsy.
متن کاملRelationship between orifices of pulmonary and coronary arteries in common arterial trunk.
OBJECTIVE Variability in pulmonary arterial and coronary arterial origins in common arterial trunk has been investigated previously but only as separate entities. We hypothesise that combinations of relationships between the two arterial structures have important clinical implications. METHODS We identified pulmonary arterial and coronary arterial origins in 56 heart specimens. The orifices w...
