چکیده

Abstract Aim The aim of this study was to analyse the necessity routine group and saves (G+S) in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomies establish whether it would be safe cease practice. In doing so, we reduce financial burden workload, whilst maintaining clinical outcomes. Method This a retrospective into all consecutive that underwent an elective or emergency cholecystectomy Royal Hampshire County Hospital (RHCH) from May 2019 - 2021. IT systems notes were analysed identify quantity pre-operative G+S samples sent, proportion required postoperative blood transfusion. Results Over 24 months, 427 performed RHCH, 70% which elective. total, 682 processed (1.6/patient), resulting cost £16504. Two received transfusion (0.5%). One these presented with UGI bleed, other haemolytic crisis. They therefore predictable, conditions, for post-operative had been planned prior surgery. Conclusion conclusion, suggests performing has created unnecessary workload on small DGH. Furthermore, during month, practice no advantage. We advise sending should decision made case-by-case basis, rather than default patients.

Video Summarization of Laparoscopic Cholecystectomies

We compared image features with a distance metric and support vector machine to identify the critical view of a laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Our accuracy was up to 91%. We are currently experimenting with particle analysis, edge analysis, and feature clustering to create a more robust image classifier.

Difficult Cholecystectomies: Validity of the Laparoscopic Approach

OBJECTIVES The aim of this work was to determine the outcome of "difficult cholecystectomy" caused by acute cholecystitis or cirrhosis, in relation to the number of conversions, principal biliary duct injuries, the length of the operation, and of postoperative hospitalization. METHODS From 1998 through 2000, 51 patients, 38 females and 13 males, underwent cholecystectomy for acute cholecystit...

Laryngeal mask airway protector™: Advanced uses for laparoscopic cholecystectomies

The laryngeal mask airway (LMA) Protector™ is a second-generation perilaryngeal sealer type supraglottic airway device recently introduced into clinical practice. We describe our initial experiences with the use of the LMA Protector™ in three patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomies. In all patients, we found the LMA Protector™ to have acceptable placements on the first attempt, adequ...

Feasibility of robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery: an evaluation of 35 robot-assisted laparoscopic cholecystectomies.

Laparoscopic surgery offers patients distinct benefits but is not without its disadvantages to surgeons in terms of maneuverability and visualization. Robotic telemanipulation systems were introduced with the objective of providing a solution to the problems in this field of surgery. The feasibility of robot-assisted surgery was assessed by performing 35 laparoscopic cholecystectomies with the ...
