چکیده

PurposePatients with end-stage lung disease and cardiac dysfunction may be considered for dual heart transplantation. End-stage can cause increased pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR) and/or right ventricular (RV) that leads to left (LV) pseudo cardiomyopathy. Lung transplantation corrects the underlying pathology allow recovery of LV function. We aim identify patients who recover function following transplantation.MethodsThis is a single-center, retrospective study which included required at Temple University Hospital between January 2016 2021. Patient data, including echocardiogram catheterization reports, were obtained using electronic medical record. Ejection fraction (EF), RV function, mean PVR compared pre- post-transplantation those recovered EF without recovery.ResultsLV was achieved in 9 15 The group had significantly higher % than non-recovered (56%, 42.5%: p = 0.030). Mean greater prior (4.04 WU, 2.34 WU; p=0.043). There proportion pre-transplant (77.8%, 16.7%; 0.020).ConclusionPatients have an elevated are more likely These should isolated as opposed Patients This recovery. 0.020).

Effect of single lung transplantation on pulmonary hypertension in patients with end stage fibrosing lung disease.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of successful single lung transplantation on pulmonary haemodynamic variables and right ventricular function. DESIGN Pulmonary haemodynamic variables and right ventricular function were measured at right heart catheterisation after single lung transplantation. The results were compared with the preoperative pulmonary haemodynamic variables measured at the t...

Bilateral sequential lung transplantation for end stage septic lung disease.

BACKGROUND Bilateral sequential lung transplantation (BSLT) has been widely adopted as an alternative to combined heart and lung transplantation for the management of end stage septic lung disease in many transplant centres. METHODS A retrospective review was undertaken of the first 32 consecutive patients with septic lung disease to undergo BSLT at the Freeman Hospital. RESULTS Between Apr...

Pulmonary vascular dysfunction in preterm lambs with chronic lung disease.

Chronic lung injury from prolonged mechanical ventilation after premature birth inhibits the normal postnatal decrease in pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR) and leads to structural abnormalities of the lung circulation in newborn sheep. Compared with normal lambs born at term, chronically ventilated preterm lambs have increased pulmonary arterial smooth muscle and elastin, fewer lung microvess...

Neuropsychological dysfunction in patients with end-stage pulmonary disease: lung transplant evaluation.

There has been a relative absence of studies that have examined the neuropsychological profiles of potential lung transplant candidates. Neuropsychological data are presented for 134 patients with end-stage pulmonary disease who were being evaluated as potential candidates for lung transplantation. Neuropsychological test results indicated that a significantly greater proportion of the patients...
