230 Does antepartum vitamin D3 supplementation prevent gestational diabetes mellitus?

To determine the if Vitamin D3 supplementation reduces incidence of gestational diabetes (GDM). : A subgroup analysis efficacy to prevent GDM was completed on a trial performed from 10/2016 - 4/2020. Women with confirmed intrauterine pregnancy 12-16 weeks gestation were included. taking supplements, or malabsorption disorder, carrying anomalous fetus had mellitus excluded. assigned receive daily 3000IU no supplement in addition prenatal vitamins. Maternal demographic factors, maternal serum D (25(OH)D) levels, and collected charts. defined as positive 2 hour 75g GTT 3 100g GTT. Parametric nonparametric statistics calculated p value <0.05 significant. The cohort consisted 412 women, which 385 met inclusion criteria. There 192 group 193 group. significant differences baseline characteristics between groups. (Table 1) third trimester 25(OH)D levels significantly increased when compared (29.57 +/- 11.84 ng/mL vs. 23.73 9.32 ng/mL; P<0.001. overall 7.6% (29/385) similar groups (6.2 6.9, RR 0.70, 95% CI 0.34-1.41). 2) Antepartum raises but does not reduce GDM.View Large Image Figure ViewerDownload Hi-res image Download (PPT)
