Buckling of Stiffened Thin-Walled Cylindrical Shells under Axial Compression with Symmetrical Imperfections
This study aimed to investigate the effects of stiffeners on buckling of thin cylindrical shells under uniform axial compression. To this end, more than 300 finite element models of stiffened cylindrical shells were prepared. The variables considered are shell thickness, number, dimension and the location of the vertical and horizontal stiffeners as well as circular symmetrical imperfections. R...

We present a unified treatment of solvatochromic shifts in liquid-phase absorption spectra, and we develop a self-consistent state-specific vertical excitation model (called VEM) for electronic excitation in solution. We discuss several other approaches to calculate vertical excitations in solution as an approximation to VEM. We illustrate these methods by presenting calculations of the solvato...

Congenital myasthenic syndromes are a group of rare and genetically heterogenous disorders resulting from defects in the structure and function of the neuromuscular junction. Patients with congenital myasthenic syndrome exhibit fatigable muscle weakness with a variety of accompanying phenotypes depending on the protein affected. A cohort of patients with a clinical diagnosis of congenital myast...
متن کاملUnfolding the conical zones of the dissipation-induced subcritical flutter for the rotationally symmetrical gyroscopic systems
Flutter of an elastic body of revolution spinning about its axis of symmetry is prohibited in the subcritical spinning speed range by the Krein theorem for the Hamiltonian perturbations. Indefinite damping creates conical domains of the subcritical flutter (subcritical parametric resonance) bifurcating into the pockets of two Whitney’s umbrellas when non-conservative positional forces are addit...
متن کاملDecay estimates of solutions to wave equations in conical sets
We consider the wave equation in an unbounded conical domain, with initial conditions and boundary conditions of Dirichlet or Neumann type. We give a uniform decay estimate of the solution in terms of weighted Sobolev norms of the initial data. The decay rate is the same as in the full space case.
