2022-RA-614-ESGO The role of ultrasound guided biopsy in women with pelvic mass suspected of gynecologic malignancy

Introduction/Background Ultrasound-guided biopsy is a reliable and effective technique for obtaining tissue samples. It commonly used different types of tumors, such as breast prostate cancers to accelerate the treatment process. Our aim evaluate indications, adequacy, safety transvaginal ultrasound-guided in women with pelvic lesions suspected gynecologic malignancy. Methodology We reviewed medical records 90 patients who had undergone or transabdominal at division oncology between 2012–2022. Patients have ovarian malignancy but are not suitable optimal debulking surgery, origin and/or nature tumor was unclear further management required histological verification. Results Two gave up process 88 were analyzed. Of patients, 55 33 underwent respectively. Biopsy material found be sufficient 85 cases. Histopathological examinations revealed primary 58 (68%) Tuberculosis second most common disease (n=12, 14%). Metastatic tumors tuba abscess 10 (12%) 5 (6%) No major complications occurred. Conclusion via abdomen vagina minimally invasive method obtain adequate diagnosis adnexal mass could avoid unnecessary surgical procedures selected patients.
