[Natural history of monochorionic diamniotic twin pregnancies with and without twin-twin transfusion syndrome].
PURPOSE to evaluate the evolution of monochorionic-diamniotic twin pregnancies with and without the twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), followed up in an expectant way. METHODS retrospective study in which the pregnancies with and without TTTS and with mild (Quintero's stage I) and severe (Quintero's stages II, III, IV and V) disease manifestations were compared according to extreme preter...
متن کاملDiscordance in nuchal translucency measurements in monochorionic diamniotic twins as predictor of twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome.
OBJECTIVE Discordance in nuchal translucency measurements in monochorionic diamniotic twin pregnancies was assessed as predictor of Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome. STUDY DESIGN A total of 61 monochorionic diamniotic twins were enrolled. Nuchal translucency (NT) and crown-rump-length (CRL) discordance was calculated as the percentage of delta NT and CRL (absolute difference NT/CRL fetus 1 a...
متن کاملHaemoglobin differences at birth in monochorionic twins without chronic twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome.
OBJECTIVES To determine the haemoglobin (Hb) differences at birth in monochorionic (MC) twins without chronic twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) in relation to birth order and placental vascular anatomy. METHODS All consecutive cases of MC twins without chronic TTTS and dichorionic (DC) twins delivered at our centre and admitted to our neonatal nursery between June 2002 and December 200...
متن کاملEndothelin concentrations in monochorionic twins with severe twin-twin transfusion syndrome.
The objective of this study was to determine endothelin (ET-1) concentrations in monochorionic twin fetuses with and without twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS). Fourteen monochorionic twin pregnancies complicated by TTTS and six without TTTS were studied. Matched maternal and fetal blood samples were obtained both in utero and at birth. Amniotic fluid samples were also collected from twin pa...
متن کاملCongenital varicella syndrome in a monochorionic diamniotic twin pregnancy
Congenital varicella syndrome encompasses a broad spectrum of malformations present in children of mothers who developed chickenpox during the first 20 weeks of gestation. We report a case of a monochorionic diamniotic twin pregnancy, with maternal exposure to chickenpox during the thirteenth week of gestation, which produced one symptomatic and one healthy child.
