152 Improving Imaging in Acute Pancreatitis

Abstract Aim In the UK it is not a current practice to perform early (< 3 days) CT for detection and staging of severe cases acute pancreatitis. Findings pancreatic necrosis, fat stranding intraperitoneal fluid should be included in scan report as they are important prognostic factors. Furthermore, radiological facilities available permit US examination gallbladder <24 hours diagnosis. The aim was meet 95% all standards. Method Retrospective baseline data were obtained 83 patients presented with pancreatitis between January 2020 February 2021. Several interventions implemented including educational posters, emails lectures general surgeons radiologists. Re-auditing conducted May August 2021 measure effectiveness these interventions. Results Baseline showed low compliance standards, 62% underwent days). Only 78% received within 24 admission. Second cycle increased adherence NICE guidelines 56% had optimal timing.
