1244 The TAL Suction Retractor: A Simple Technique for Visualising the Transverse Acetabular Ligament (TAL) During Total Hip Replacement (THR) Surgery

چکیده
Abstract Introduction The transverse acetabular ligament (TAL) is an anatomical landmark that of particular use during primary total hip replacements (THR). Visualisation important to aid the orientation cup and it a structure can be identified in virtually every replacement surgery. We introduce simple technique facilitate this. Method A thoracic suction catheter taped distal end blunt Hohmann’s retractor with two steristrips wrapping around leaving approximately 1-1.5cm exposed. Our preference for side holes proximal which allows direct connection tip Yankauer suction. used as inferior usual way, placed ligament, resting on posterior ischial surface. should lie just under TAL, most dependant point wound. Results TAL continuously or intermittently visualisation reaming, trialling, placement. provides surgical wound, preventing unnecessary movement facilitates clutter-free field leading more streamlined efficient surgery potential reduced operative times. Conclusions improvised tool makes easier visualise preparation replacements.

Acetabular Component Orientation in Total Hip Arthroplasty Using Transverse Acetabular Ligament (TAL)
Objective: To assess the effectiveness of transverse acetabular ligament (TAL) as a guide for acetabular cup ante version during total hip arthroplasty and its effect on postoperative hip dislocation. Methods: This descriptive case series was on 117 patients suffering from Hip pathologies underwent elective primary total hip arthroplasties (THA). Patients were examined radiologically postoperat...

متن کاملAcetabular Component Orientation in Total Hip Arthroplasty: the Role of Acetabular Transverse Ligament
OBJECTIVE The aim of our study is to present the benefit of using the transvers acetabular ligament for intraoperative determination of the anteversion of acetabular component. METHODS Twenty-one total hip arthroplasties were performed. The transverse acetabular ligament was identified and used as a guide to position the acetabular component. RESULTS The mean anteversion angle was 16.9. Non...

Ensuring the accuracy of the intra-operative orientation of the acetabular component during a total hip replacement can be difficult. In this paper we introduce a reproducible technique using the transverse acetabular ligament to determine the anteversion of the acetabular component. We have found that this ligament can be identified in virtually every hip undergoing primary surgery. We describ...
متن کاملThe role of the transverse acetabular ligament for acetabular component orientation in total hip replacement: an analysis of acetabular component position and range of movement using navigation software.
Orientation of the native acetabular plane as defined by the transverse acetabular ligament (TAL) and the posterior labrum was measured intra-operatively using computer-assisted navigation in 39 hips. In order to assess the influence of alignment on impingement, the range of movement was calculated for that defined by the TAL and the posterior labrum and compared with a standard acetabular comp...
