1,2-Diphenyl-2-(m-tolylamino)ethanone1

The title compound, C(21)H(19)NO, belongs to the family of α-amino-ketones. The structure contains three benzene rings, two of which [the phenyl ring in the 1-position (B) and the methylaniline ring (A)] are nearly coplanar [dihedral angle = 5.4 (1)°], whereas the phenyl ring in the 2-position (C) is nearly normal to them [dihedral angles = 81.8 (1) and 87.0 (1)° for A/C and B/C, respectively]....

The classical approach of constructing finite Postnikov systems by k-invariants is compared with the global approach of Dwyer, Kan, and Smith. We concentrate on the case of 3-stage Postnikov pieces and provide examples where a classification is feasible. In general though the computational difficulty of the global approach is equivalent to that of the classical one. . . . all mathematics leads,...

About the sign of ∆m 2 12.

The present status of the problem of identifying the sign of ∆m 12 is discussed in view of the development of new methods of detection of solar neutrinos. The results of solar neutrino experiments [1]-[5] plus KamLAND [6] give strong evidence that neutrinos are massive particles and do oscillate [7]. The important point is that KamLAND experiment allows both signs for ∆m 12 while solar neutrino...

Diphenyl (2-chlorobenzylamido)phosphate

In the title compound, C(19)H(17)ClNO(3)P, the P atom exhibits a distorted tetra-hedral configuration. In the crystal, pairs of inter-molecular N-H⋯O(P) hydrogen bonds form centrosymmetric dimers.

On the Exponential Diophantine Equation ( 12 m 2 + 1 ) x + ( 13 m 2 − 1 )

Let m be a positive integer. Then we show that the exponential Diophantine equation (12m2 + 1)x + (13m2 − 1)y = (5m)z has only the positive integer solution (x, y, z) = (1, 1, 2) under some conditions. The proof is based on elementary methods and Baker’s method. Mathematics Subject Classification: 11D61
