1189 Identifying Opportunities for Global Surgery in Cameroon: An Analysis of Existing Health Policies and Events

Abstract Aim analyze existing national health policies and events in Cameroon to identify opportunities for surgery, obstetrics, trauma, anesthesia (SOTA) policies. Method We searched the Cameroonian Ministry of Health’s policy database past current Next, were retrieved screened mentions SOTA-related interventions using relevant keywords French English analyzed ‘eight-fold path’ framework public analysis. Results identified 136 excluded 16 duplicates. The included implemented between 1967 2021. Fifty-nine (49.2%) mentioned SOTA care: Governance (n = 25), infrastructure 21), service delivery 11), workforce information management 10), funding 8). Most focused on maternal neonatal health, followed by anesthesia, ophthalmologic trauma. Nineteen (32.2%) Bellwether surgical procedures. National, multinational civil society organizations private stakeholders supported these events, Public Health was largest funder. Conclusions focus care, financing is system component with least events. Future should build strengths while improving neglected areas, thus attaining shared global goals 2030.
