چکیده
Abstract Aim Human Papillomavirus (HPV) positive oropharyngeal cancer (OPC) has been shown to provide improved survival compared HPV negative patients with similar disease. This led a new staging criteria for these and attempts de-escalate treatment this group, maintain high reduce associated side effects. review aims assess current research into techniques compare results of studies. Method Pubmed online database was used gather studies containing primary dated from within the last 10 years detailing study design, striation higher lower risk groups, outcome de-escalation groups. Results Published vary in their definition ‘low risk’ however minimal smoking history, smaller tumour size increased DNA expression are all identified as good prognostic indicators could be have identify suitable candidates deintensification. The combination radiotherapy chemotherapy often success however, no consensus reached regarding dosing these. Transoral robotic surgery may also conjunction chemoradiotherapy, large ongoing yet publish final results. Conclusions is an evolving area oncology increasing evidence base improving prognosis minimising effects group patients, more necessary gain on gold standard patients.

The rationale for HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer de-escalation treatment strategies
The treatment paradigms for head and neck squamous cell cancer (HNSCC) are changing due to the emergence of human papillomavirus-associated tumors (HPV-related), possessing distinct molecular profiles and responses to therapy. Retrospective studies have suggested that HPV-related HNSCCs are more frequently cured than those caused by tobacco. Current clinical trials focus on the reduction of tre...
متن کاملTreatment de-escalation for HPV-driven oropharyngeal cancer: Where do we stand?
HPV-driven oropharyngeal cancers have significantly better survival rates than tobacco and alcohol induced head and neck cancers. As HPV-positive patients are younger, healthier and far more likely to survive their disease, long-term treatment side effects are becoming a major issue. This has led the scientific and medical community to reassess the current treatment protocols in order to develo...

Functional dysphonia (FD) refers to a voice problem in the absence of a physical condition. It is a multifaceted voice disorder. There is no consensus with regard to its definition and inclusion criteria for diagnosis. FD has many predisposing and precipitating factors, which may include genetic susceptibility, psychological traits, and the vocal behavior itself. The assessment of voice disorde...
متن کاملCause‐specific mortality in HPV+ and HPV− oropharyngeal cancer patients: insights from a population‐based cohort
Identifying the causes of death in head and neck cancer patients can optimize follow-up and therapeutic strategies, but studies in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) patients stratified by HPV status are lacking. We report cause-specific mortality in a population-based cohort of patients with OPSCC. Patients who had been diagnosed with OPSCC (n = 1541) between 2000 and 2014 in easter...
متن کاملThe Growing Epidemic of HPV-Positive Oropharyngeal Carcinoma: A Clinical Review for Primary Care Providers.
While the rate of head and neck cancer has decreased in recent decades, the prevalence of oropharynx cancer has dramatically increased due to human papillomavirus (HPV)-related oropharyngeal cancer. Three of 4 newly diagnosed oropharyngeal carcinomas are HPV-positive, and by 2020 it is projected that the prevalence of this disease will overtake that of HPV-related cervical cancer. Recognized in...
