1074 Norcantharidin nanoemulsion development, characterization and in vitro antiproliferation effect on B16F1 melanoma cells

Melanoma is a highly lethal type of cancer that has increased in incidence recent decades. Nevertheless, current therapies lack effectiveness and have disabling side effects, which calls for new therapeutic strategies. Norcantharidin (NCTD) an acid derivative isolated from natural blister beetles with potential antitumor activity. However, its use restricted due to solubility limitations. To tackle this issue, we developed oil-in-water nanoemulsion, using commonly available cosmetic ingredients, NCTD 10-fold compared water only. The nanoemulsion showed good droplet size homogeneity, as well adequate pH viscosity skin application.In vitro, drug release studies sustained profile, accelerated stability proved the formulation was reasonably stable. Furthermore, effective against melanoma B16F1 cells, IC50 1.026 +/- 0.370 mg/Kg. Also, metabolic activity found decrease after exposure. established NCTD’s therapeutical effect on cells possible adjuvant therapy topical treatment.
