Endocarditis associated with cardiac catheterization due to a Gram-positive coccus designated Micrococcus mucilaginosus incertae sedis.
A gram-positive coccus, presently named Micrococcus mucilaginosus incertae sedis, was isolated from 14 blood cultures from a patient with endocarditis. The first positive blood culture was drawn 5 days after the patient underwent cardiac catheterization.
متن کاملFastidiosipila sanguinis gen. nov., sp. nov., a new Gram-positive, coccus-shaped organism from human blood.
Phenotypic and phylogenetic studies were performed on two strains of an unidentified Gram-positive, fastidious, non-spore-forming, coccus-shaped bacterium recovered from human blood. The organism was catalase-negative and grew under strictly anaerobic conditions and in the presence of 2 and 6 % O(2). Comparative 16S rRNA gene sequencing demonstrated that the unidentified bacterium was, phylogen...
متن کاملAntimicrobial activity of secondary metabolite from marine isolate, Pseudomonas sp. against Gram positive and negative bacteria including MRSA.
A proteobacterium isolated from coastal region of Chennai, India, produced appreciable secondary metabolite and partial purification of the obtained secondary metabolite demonstrated antimicrobial activity against both Gram positive and negative organisms including MRSA (methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus). Identification of the isolate using biochemical tests, 16s rDNA sequence analys...
متن کاملDraft Genome Sequence of Ezakiella peruensis Strain M6.X2, a Human Gut Gram-Positive Anaerobic Coccus
We report here the draft genome sequence of Ezakiella peruensis strain M6.X2T The draft genome is 1,672,788 bp long and harbors 1,589 predicted protein-encoding genes, including 26 antibiotic resistance genes with 1 gene encoding vancomycin resistance. The genome also exhibits 1 clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat region and 333 genes acquired by horizontal gene transfer.
متن کاملMethicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus: the other emerging resistant gram-positive coccus among liver transplant recipients.
We undertook a study of the characteristics and clinical impact of infections due to methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) after liver transplantation. Of 165 patients who received liver transplants at our institution from 1990 through 1998, 38 (23%) developed MRSA infections. The predominant sources of infection were vascular catheters (39%; n=15), wound (18%; n=7), abdomen (18%; ...
