چکیده
Abstract Introduction Both modafinil and methylphenidate are frequently utilized for maintenance of wakefulness in narcolepsy other sleep disorders. have been demonstrated to affect dopamine transporter, leading an increase extracellular dopamine. Subsequent functional connectivity changes between nucleus accumbens pallidum noted. Animal studies demonstrate neuronal activity with accumbens. To our knowledge there has no direct examination human neural after administration or methylphenidate, compared baseline. Methods Two subjects placement stereotactic electroencephalographic (sEEG) electrodes identify optimal location permanent deep brain stimulation were given promoting agents optimize testing sites during inpatient hospitalization. Assessment occurred at least 48 hours following surgical electrode insertion under inhaled general anesthesia. Retrospective analysis was performed on rest off medication. Frequency content calculated the bands: delta (1-3 Hz), theta (4-7 alpha (8-12 beta (13-30 gamma (30-50 high (70-100 Hz). Power each band is reported as percentage contribution summed power across all bands. Results Total noted be lower both methylphenidate. With modafinil, ratio decreased (22.3% vs. 30.5%), increased (24% 22.4%), (39.5% 32.9%). only (40.3% 22.9%). Conclusion accumbens, while additional effects Further assessment methylphenidate’s indicated help better understand their mechanism action appropriate use agents. Support (if any)

15 صفحه اولRewarding Effects of Operant Dry-Licking Behavior on Neuronal Firing in the Nucleus Accumbens Core
Certain eating behaviors are characterized by a trend of elevated food consumption. However, neural mechanisms mediating the motivation for food consumption are not fully understood. Food impacts the brain-rewarding-system via both oral-sensory and post-ingestive information. Recent studies have reported an important role of visceral gut information in mediating dopamine (DA) release in the bra...
