چکیده
Abstract Introduction The radial forearm free flap phalloplasty is the most commonly used for penile reconstruction. anterolateral thigh (ALT) was proposed in 2006 as an alternative due to twin advantages of a more easily hidden scar and improved flexibility length flap. A pedicled variant ALT same year thus offering greater security vascular supply suitable patients. Previous reports have highlighted higher rates loss low integrated urethra. Objective aim study report contemporary surgical outcomes phalloplasty. In addition, functional are reported first time. Methods All patients undergoing were included between 2009 2021. Data extracted from comprehensive prospective database medical records. Functional assessed by non-validated questionnaire. Results Seventy-six underwent with mean follow-up 34 months (SEM ± 3.05). Median age 32 (IQR 26 – 46) body mass index 24 0.61). significant minority had previous (22%). 7% other co-morbidities including diabetes peripheral disease. Over half all flaps (n=41) designed urethra 6.6% (n=5) required transfer. average stay seven days ±0.47). Post-surgery, five (6.6%) experienced total loss, further three (3.9%) experiencing partial loss. Urethral complications common eleven (26.8%) developing fistulae (7.3%) strictures. Fifty-three (69%) completed Forty-three (81%) generally satisfied their phalloplasty, while thirty-four (65%) felt they good cosmetic outcome. Twenty-eight (53%) sensation at least phallus. Eight (17%) troublesome post-micturition dribbling. Conclusions Presented one largest cohort following genital gender affirmation surgery using successfully (gold standard urethral reconstruction). (an important determinant choice flap) time showing 81% despite challenging almost quarter salvage failed Disclosure No

Functional outcomes after laryngopharyngectomy with anterolateral thigh flap reconstruction.
BACKGROUND We examined speech and swallowing outcomes and complications in patients with anterolateral thigh (ALT) flap reconstruction of cervical esophageal defects. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed 29 patients treated with laryngopharyngectomy and ALT flap reconstruction at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center from March 2002 to July 2004. We compared complication rates, ...
متن کاملReinnervated anterolateral thigh flap for tongue reconstruction.
BACKGROUND Total or near-total glossectomy defects are commonly reconstructed with rectus abdominis myocutaneous flaps for coverage. Sensory reinnervation has rarely been performed. METHODS Thirteen consecutive total or near-total glossectomy reconstructions were performed in a 12-month period with anterolateral thigh flaps with (n = 8) or without (n = 5) sensory reinnervation to the lingual ...
متن کاملAnterolateral thigh flap for postmastectomy breast reconstruction.
Most postmastectomy defects are reconstructed by use of lower abdominal-wall tissue either as a pedicled or free flap. However, there are some contraindications for using lower abdominal flaps in breast reconstruction, such as inadequate soft-tissue volume, previous abdominoplasty, lower paramedian or multiple abdominal scars, and plans for future pregnancy. In such situations, a gluteal flap h...
متن کاملFunctional tongue reconstruction with the anterolateral thigh flap
BACKGROUND A retrospective study was conducted to evaluate the advantages of anterolateral thigh (ALT) flap in tongue reconstruction. METHOD From September 2008 to February 2012, patients receiving ALT flap tongue reconstruction were included in the study. Patients undergoing ALT flap were compared with those undergoing similar surgery with radial forearm flap (RFF). The medical records of th...
متن کاملAnterolateral thigh adipofascial flap in mucosal reconstruction.
IMPORTANCE This study describes a reliable technique for mucosal reconstruction of large defects using components of a common free flap technique. OBJECTIVE To review the harvest technique and the varied scenarios in which the anterolateral thigh adipofascial flap (ALTAF) can be used for mucosal restoration in oral cavity and nasal reconstruction. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS A retrosp...
