0363 Sound vs. Sight: A Modality-Specific Preliminary Investigation of Sleep-Related Attentional Bias in Older Adults

چکیده
Abstract Introduction Increased attention to sleep-related stimuli (i.e., “sleep-related attentional bias”) may contribute the persistence of insomnia symptoms. Despite high prevalence disorder in older adults, studies investigating this phenomenon population are lacking. Additionally, it is unclear whether bias occurs only for visual or more broadly, such as auditory stimuli. This study examined and differed a function adults. Methods Sixty-one adults (Mage=68.2±5.9; 41 women/) with (n=22) without (n=39) (met DSM-5 criteria plus reported 6+nights/14 >30 mins sleep onset latency wake after on daily diaries) completed modified Posner Cueing Dot Probe tasks. Task cues included (e.g., alarm clocks, snoring), clocks set bedtimes, person awake bed) non-sleep (auditory: pure tones; visual: neutral images from International Affective Picture system) For Posner, valid [non-cued reaction time (RT) minus validly-cued RT] invalid (non-cued RT invalidly-cued RT) related cueing effects were calculated. Probe, (non-sleep/neutral cued computed. Independent t-tests auditory/visual mean by status. Results larger (p=.04) those (104.6±47.6ms) vs. (80.7±57.3ms). Valid also (p=.001) (118.9±48.8ms) (67.9±77.2ms). there was trending difference (p=.07) between (14.7ms±6.7ms) (-1.8ms±7.1ms). Conclusion Preliminary findings suggest experience than insomnia. Further, greater reflect general cortex hypervigilance. Aging benefit stimulus desensitization towards triggers across sensory modalities potentially facilitate sleep. Does the sight of physical threat induce a tactile processing bias? Modality-specific attentional facilitation induced by viewing threatening pictures.
Threatening stimuli are thought to bias spatial attention toward the location from which the threat is presented. Although this effect is well-established in the visual domain, little is known regarding whether tactile attention is similarly affected by threatening pictures. We hypothesised that tactile attention might be more affected by cues implying physical threat to a person's bodily tissu...

متن کاملA specific attentional bias in panic disorder?
According to cognitive theories, panic patients are assumed to have an attentional bias toward bodily sensations. To date, there is only some indirect evidence of such a bias measured by an emotional Stroop task. Moreover, the content and disorder specificity of this bias is rather unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the specificity of attentional bias in patients with panic disor...

Attentional bias in older adults: effects of generalized anxiety disorder and cognitive behavior therapy.
Attentional biases are known to play a contributing, and perhaps even causal role in the etiology of anxiety and other negative affective states. The prevalence of anxiety disorders in the older cohort is growing, and there are both theoretical and empirical reasons to suspect that age-related factors could moderate attentional bias effects in the context of late-life anxiety. The current study...
