متن کاملγ-ray measurements and neutron sensitivity in a fusion environment
A system based on a LaBr3(Ce) scintillator and digital data acquisition is discussed in view of γ-ray spectroscopy measurements on a fusion burning plasma. High energy resolution and high rate capability of the system are demonstrated in laboratory tests and in dedicated experiments at nuclear accelerators. Preliminary results on sensitivity of the detector to 14 MeV neutrons are presented.
متن کاملHigh Resolution γ-Ray Spectroscopy: the First 85 Years
This opening review attempts to follow the main trends in crystal diffraction spectrometry of nuclear γ rays from its 1914 beginning in Rutherford's laboratory to the ultra-high resolution instrumentation realized in the current generation of spectrometers at the Institute Laue Langeven (ILL). My perspective is that of an instrumentalist hoping to convey a sense of our intellectual debt to a nu...
متن کامل“Neutron Shell”: A high efficiency array of neutron detectors for γ−ray spectroscopic studies with Gammasphere
A shell of neutron detectors was designed, constructed, and employed in γ−ray spectroscopy with Gammasphere. It consists of up to 35 tapered regular hexagons that replace the same number of forward Ge-detector modules in Gammasphere. The shell was designed for high detection efficiency and very good neutron−γ discrimination. The simultaneous use of time of flight, and two methods of pulse shape...
