α-Mangostin Synergizes the Antineoplastic Effects of 5-Fluorouracil Allowing a Significant Dose Reduction in Breast Cancer Cells

Breast cancer is the most common neoplasm and leading cause of death in women worldwide. Although 5-fluorouracil a conventional chemotherapeutic agent for breast treatment, its use may result severe side effects. Thus, there widespread interest lowering drawbacks, without affecting therapeutic efficacy by concomitant with natural products. Herein, we aimed at evaluating whether α-mangostin, antineoplastic compound, could increase anticancer effect different cell lines, allowing dose reduction. Cell proliferation was evaluated sulforhodamine-B assays, inhibitory concentrations potency were calculated dose-response curves, followed analysis their pharmacological interaction combination-index method dose-reduction index. cycle distribution flow cytometry.
