the purpose of this study was the relationship between problem – solvi ability with fdi cognitive style of students.the research method was correlation method. for data analysis pearson test was used. statistical society in this research was all the students of alligoodarz city in 1391-92 year.to sampling of statiscal population was used sampling multi-stage random the size of sample selected 208. the instrument for gathering data was standard problem-solving question naire (hpnr,& peterson, 1982), and witkins (1971) geft test. for data analysis software spss 18 was used. the findings show that: there was no significant diffrence between problem – solving ability with fdi cognitive style. there was no significant diffrence between confidence in problem-solving with fdi cognitive style. there was no significant diffrence between trends – avoiding in problem-solving with fdi cognitive style. there was no significant difference between personal control in problem-solving with fdi cognitive style. key words: problem – solving ability , cognitive styles, field dependent –
