abstract al- muntazam by ibn al -jawzi is one of the greatest the book ancient book of texts on history of islam in the 6th century.it is very important one;because of including rare reports which are not found any where.in addition to historical reports,his outlook , in which embodies information on mythologies, milal wa nihal (sects and creeds), geography, and political, social and religious changes;in order not to be neglected biography which is formed as historical encyclopedia. hence, it has been considered as a turning-point in historioghraphy. so , his historical approach should be studied through different view- points in order that his epistemological system in the field of historical outlook and historiography represented . although he has only intended to show descriptive history , not analytic history,but in any case,his description of islamic teachings is very considerable in his historical writings. in this research,it has been made an effort to clear up the authors point of view through his historiography method. key words : historical outlook , historiography, schools , sects , al-muntazam and ibn al-jawzi.
