this research was conducted to examine the effect of a concurrent training on rest level of leptin of plasma and some hormonal factors in non-athlete subjects. the research population included non-athlete men who didn’t participate in any organized sport activities. 30 men were chosen voluntarily among the above-mentioned population and were divided into 2 groups: experimental (15 subjects) and control (15 subjects). the primary evaluation of anthropometric indexes and primary blood was done from the 2 groups. experimental group exercised 3 times a week under 8 weeks concurrent training program. control group didn’t participate in any regular exercise program during research period. at the end of 8-week period, the same as pretest, anthropometric indexes and blood test was done and the data has been analyzed. after primary examinations, subjects with cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure and articular conditions removed from test, and selected groups identified for primary evaluation of anthropometric indexes (height, weight, fat percentage and bmi). body composition machine (inbody 0.3) which works with bioelectrical impedance was used to evaluate body composition. exercise program included 8 weeks of concurrent training, 3 times a week, containing 3 parts of warm up (15 minutes), perform resistance and aerobic exercises, and finally cool down (5 minutes). the concurrent training program contained 10-12 resistance exercises for major muscles groups. in the first 4 weeks, exercise intensity was 70-75% 1 rm and in the second 4 weeks the intensity was 75-80% 1 rm. in concurrent training program, after performance of resistance exercises, the subjects run 10 minutes with 70-75% mhr in the first 4 weeks, and 13 minutes with 75-80% mhr in the second 4 weeks. descriptive statistics was used to define mean, standard deviation, minimum and maximum, and inferential statistics was used to examine research hypothesis. the related t-test was conducted to determine differences between pre-test and post-test within each group, and independent t-test was done to compare the means of post-test between groups. the results of the present research showed that 8-week resistance-aerobic exercises has significant effect on leptin level in non-athlete subjects (p=0.01). 8-weeks resistance-aerobic exercises resulted in meaningful decrease of bmi (p=0.01) and non-meaningful decrease of their weight. no meaningful change was shown in whr after 8-week exercise. testosterone changes were not meaningful in any of the groups. the mean difference of testosterone of experimental group did not show meaningful difference in comparison with control group. although the decrease of cortisol level in experimental group was considerable, cortisol changes were not meaningful neither within groups and nor between groups. the decrease of insulin level in experimental group was considerable, but insulin changes were not meaningful in any of the groups. the mean difference of insulin of experimental group showed meaningful difference in comparison with control group (p=0.02). the ratio of testosterone to cortisol (t/c) in experimental group showed a little increase. but changes of ratio of testosterone to cortisol (t/c) were not meaningful within and between groups.
