Raphanus sativus L. ‘Radish’ locally known as Fijl, is a Brassicaceous plant of cabbage family which has been reputed for its benefic medicinal properties. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the freshly squeezed Radish juice (FRJ) for its anti-gastric ulcer activity in experimental models, besides preliminary qualitative phytochemical screening. Oral administration of FRJ in doses of ...

A basic 9-kD protein was purified from seeds of radish (Raphanus sativus L.). The 43 amino-terminal amino acids show extensive sequence identity with nonspecific lipid transfer proteins from other plant species. The radish seed nonspecific lipid transfer protein-like protein inhibits the growth of several fungi in vitro.

KAYMAK, H. C., I. GUVENC and A. GUROL, 2010. Elemental analysis of different radish (Raphanus sativus L.) Cultivars by using wavelength-dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (WDXRF). Bulg. J. Agric. Sci., 16: 769-774 The aim of this work is to study the applicability of a quantitative WDXRF (Wavelength-Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence) method, for determination of minerals in radish specimens...

Determination of the prosthetic group and titration of sulfhydryl group of ferredoxin-NADP+ oxidoreductase (FNR) from roots of radish (Raphanus sativus var acanthiformis cv Miyashige) confirmed its similarity to leaf-FNR. Antisera directed against radish root-FNR and leaf-FNR distinguished the enzyme forms from roots and leaves of radish as well as other flowering plants. The FNR isoenzymes sho...

Raphanus sativus L. belongs to family Brassicaceae and is more commonly known as Radish. Radish has long been grown as a food crop and are of high medicinal value. R. sativus seeds and leaves contain ‘raphanin’ which has been found to possess antibacterial and antifungal potential. In the present study, R. sativus root juice was evaluated for its antimicrobial potential against five bacterial s...

Background: Raphanus sativus (radish) has documented spasmogenic effects on smooth muscles. This controlled in vitro study was carried out to determine the effects of crude extract from roots of Raphanus sativus on isolated rat trachea. Methods: Extract was prepared by crushing Raphanus sativus roots in a juicer and filtering it through filter paper. Its effect was studied on isolated tracheal ...

In this study, the effects of enhancing synthetic chelators (HEDTA, EGTA) and low molecular weight organic acids (LMWOA) such as citric acid were compared on cadmium (Cd) solution in soils that were artificially contaminated. Also Cd phytoextraction capability by radish (Raphanus Sativus L.) was studied. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete factorial design where each treatment ...

Hydroxycinnamoyltransferases which catalyze the formation of O-sinapoylcholine (sinapine) using l-0-sinapoyl-ß-D-glucose as acyl donor have been isolated from seeds of radish (Raphanus sativus L. var. sativus) and mustard (Sinapis alba L.) and purified 420and 293-fold, respectively. The enzymes (“sinapine synthase”) had apparent molecular weights of about 60,000 daltons and showed highest activ...
