seismic attributes are very useful in seismic data interpretation. one of these attributes is the coherency attribute. seismic coherency is a complex trace and a geometrical attribute that is applied to a 3d cube of seismic data. it is a measure of lateral changes in acoustic impedance caused by the variation in structure, stratigraphy, lithology, porosity, and the presence of hydrocarbons. whe...

seismic coherency is a measure of lateral changes in acoustic impedance that are caused by variations in structure, stratigraphy, lithology, porosity, and fluid content. seismic coherency is a geometrical attribute that establishes temporal and lateral relationships with other attributes. seismic coherency can be defined by coherency attributes. when coherency attributes are applied to seismic ...

limited seismic data quality and complex tectonics make for less than ideal interpretation conditions. however, modern geometric attributes including coherency has shown to be effective in showing the lateral extents of subtle and small-scale geologic features not usually visible in conventional seismic sections. this geometric attributes are better suited than some older generation seismic att...

In this work, an analysis method is developed for the robust and efficient estimation of 3-D seismic local structural entropy, which is a measure of local discontinuity. This method avoids the computation of large covariance matrices and eigenvalues, associated with the eigenstructure-based and semblance-based coherency estimates. We introduce a number of local discontinuity measures, based on ...

Coherency cube” and fault detection technologies have evolved rapidly in recent years as important tools for seismic interpretation. The following paper, developed as a joint project between investigators at Memorial University and the University of Calgary, compares several of the fault detection methods for data from Hibernia field. The results, which are outlined in detail in the Memorial Un...

We present a method for visualizing large voxel volumes based on optimized ray-casting. Other than conventional methods casting a ray for each pixel on the screen, our method only casts one ray per column and then traverses the voxel volume in a front to back manner. This can be done efficiently as our data is encoded by run-length-encoding (RLE), reducing the overall cost for the traversal. To...

We describe novel ways of gradient estimation and tri-linear interpolation for a real-time volume rendering system, using coherency between rays. We show simulation results that compare the proposed methods to traditional algorithms and present them in the context of Cube-3, a special-purpose architecture capable of rendering 5123 ldbit per voxel datasets at over 20 frames per second.

Ni-Fe-Cr-Al alloy has been subjected to 2 hours aging treatment between 600-900°C, which influenced the mechanical properties and resulted in discontinuous precipitation at grain boundaries. In this study, SEM, TEM STEM-EDXS were applied explore relationship occurring boundary phenomena behavior. Within zone, three different phases recognized, namely ? solid solution with lamellar M23C6 carbide...

In this paper we present a technique for the interactive control and display of static and dynamic 3D datasets. We describe novel ways of tri-linear interpolation and gradient estimation for a real-time volume rendering system, using coherency between rays. We show simulation results that compare the proposed methods to traditional algorithms and present them in the context of Cube-3, a special...

The authors have developed several methods for spatially distributing spectral material in real-time using frequency-domain processing. Applying spectral spatialization techniques to more than two channels introduces a few obstacles, particularly with controllers, visualization and the manipulation of large amounts of control data. Various interfaces are presented which address these issues. We...
