physical and mechanical properties of alfalfa (medicago sativa, l.) grind are required for optimum design of equipment used in transporting, processing and storage of the material. this study was conducted to determine the effect of particle size (2.38, 3.36 and 4.76 mm) and moisture content (8, 9.3 and 11% wb) on some physical and mechanical properties of alfalfa grind. these properties includ...

Six hundred ten crossbred-yearling heifers (347 +/- 5 kg of initial BW) were obtained and used in a randomized complete-block design finishing study. Finishing diets were based on steam-flaked corn and ground alfalfa hay. The control (CONT) treatment contained no distillers grains with solubles (DGS), the second diet was formulated to contained 13% (DM basis) dried corn DGS derived from a tradi...

Considering the difficulties inherent in the manual construction of natural language parsers, we have designed and implemented our system GRIND which is capable of learning a sequence of context-dependent parsing actions from an arbitrary corpus containing labelled parse trees. Being trained and tested on corpus SUSANNE, GRIND reaches the accuracy of 96 % and the recall of 68 %.

Increase in demand for ethanol as a fuel additive has resulted in dramatic growth in ethanol production. Ethanol is produced from corn by wet milling or dry grind processing. Wet mill plants are capital intensive due to equipment requirements; they produce large volumes of ethanol and are corporate owned. In dry grind processing, the kernel is not fractionated and only one coproduct, distillers...

The dry-grind corn process is one of two technologies used to convert corn into ethanol. In this process, all kernel components are processed through several sequential steps, including fermentation. Only one coproduct (distillers' dried grains with solubles [DDGS]) is available for marketing. DDGS provide income to offset costs of processing; issues that affect marketing have implications in t...
