The synthesis and successful activation of IRMOF-8 (Zn(4)O(ndc)(3), ndc = naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylate) is presented. Room temperature synthesis effectively suppresses interpenetration. Although conventional activation under reduced pressure leads to structural collapse, activation by flowing supercritical CO(2) yields a guest-free material with a BET surface area of 4461 m(2) g(-1).

The sorption of microcystins (MCs) to fifteen lake sediments and four clay minerals was studied as a function of sediment/clay properties, temperature, and pH through well-controlled batch sorption experiments. All sorption data for both sediments and clays are well described by a nonlinear Freundlich model (n(f) varies between 0.49 and 1.03). The sorption process for MCs exhibited different ad...

in this study, cross linked chitosan resin (ccr) was prepared by cross linking chitosan with glutaraldehyde, and then î±-ketoglutaric acid-modified chitosan resin (kcr) was obtained by modifying ccr with î±-ketoglutaric acid. the sorption behavior of methylene blue (mb) on kcr and ccr from aqueous solution was investigated. the effect of various experimental parameters (e.g. initial ph, sorbent...

Nowadays, sorption is one of the fastest growing techniques for the treatment of wastewaters, due to availability of large variety of biomaterials. A lot of experimentation has been done for finding effective biomaterials. The mechanism and effectiveness of sorption is done by comparative study of experimentation results and theoretical models. A computer tool SORPS (SORption Process Simulation...

The current study was attributed to uranium (VI) ions adsorption using a anion exchanger resin, Dowex®2x8, in the presence of sulfate anions. Evaluation of operational parameters including contact time, pH, initial concentration of uranium ions, and presence of various anions (including phosphate, sulfate, chloride, fluoride, and nitrate) in the solution was assessed on sorption performance of ...

This study investigates time-dependent sorption of pesticides in soil aggregates. We tested if the sorption kinetics of pesticides in soil aggregates can be described by modeling diffusion into aggregates for a range of soils and pesticides. Our hypothesis is that the rate of sorption is negatively related to sorption strength due to retardated diffusion. Natural aggregates of 3-5 mm diameter w...

The sorption of two dyes, namely, Basic BIue 69 and Acid Bhre 25 onto peat has been studied in terms of pseudo-second order and first order mechanisms for chemical sorption as vrell as an intraparticle diffusion mechani!jm process. The batch sorption process, based on the assumption of a pseudo-second order mechanism, has been developed to predict the rite constant of sorption. the equ~lib~um c...

In the present work, the influence of temperature on kinetics and equilibrium of methylene blue sorption from synthetic aqueous solutions, in single dye solutions, using almond peel as a sorbent material has been investigated in batch conditions. Temperature played an important part in sorption phenomenon: the methylene blue sorption increased as temperature increased. The pseudo second-order m...

The transport and fate of many contaminants in subsurface systems can be influenced by several rate-limited processes, such as rate-limited sorption, diffusional mass transfer, and transformation reactions. Identification of the controlling process in such systems is often difficult, and is confounded by the possible influence of additional factors such as nonlinear or hysteretic sorption. We p...

A comparison of the kinetics of the sorption of copper(II) on to peat from aqueous solution at various initial copper(II) concentrations and peat doses was made. The Elovich model and the pseudo-second order model both provided a high degree of correlation with the experimental data for most of the sorption process. There was a small discrepancy at the initial stages of sorption which suggested...
