Classically, ascending aortic dissection (AD) presents as sudden, severe chest pain that is tearing type and radiates to the back. Herein, we present a rare case of severe aortic regurgitation with silent ascending AD, which had no chest pain symptoms. The aortic valve apparatus probably masked this AD; therefore, it was not detected by echocardiography and during the surgery.
stanford type a acute aortic dissection (aad) is a very rare complication, with potentially lethal consequences in pregnancy. in fact, pregnancy has been regularly associated with the possibility of aortic. dissection in almost half of young women. herein, we present the case of a 38-year-old woman in her 37th week of pregnancy. the patient’s medical history was indicative of g4l2ab1(4 gestaiti...
Acute aortic dissection is a common disease caused by primary tear in the aortic intima or rupture of vasa vasorum. Every year 5-30 per million are affected by that. Untreated aortic dissection (dissecting aortic aneurysm) carries a high mortality rate. More than 90% of acute dissections present with acute pain in chest or back or both. Aortic dissection may mimic other more common conditions...
Recent studies have confirmed a close association between various medical conditions (intracranial aneurysm, abdominal aortic aneurysm, temporal arteritis, autoimmune disorder, renal cysts), certain aortic anatomic variants (bovine aortic arch, direct origin of left vertebral artery from aortic arch, bicuspid aortic valve), and family history of aneurysm disease with thoracic aortic aneurysm an...
Aortic coarctation is a rare but dangerous condition. Presence of aortic dissection in addition to coarctation is significantly rarer and more life-threatening. Here, we present a case of acute inferior MI due to aortic dissection complicating a native aortic coarctation. A 17-year-old boy was admitted to our emergency department due to severe chest pain and loss of consciousness. His ele...
Introduction: Patients with primary acute aortic dissection are at higher risk of complications, including increasing aortic aneurysm diameter, aortic rupture, aortic pseudo aneurysm, and recurrent aortic dissection. Case presentation We presented the case of a recurrent pseudo aneurysm and rupture of the aorta in the distal a...
Aortic dissection occurs when a tear develops in the wall of the aorta, which is rare in the young population. This fatal disorder is hard to diagnose, especially in young patients. We present the case of aortic dissection in a 15-year-old boy referred to the Emergency Department of Yazd University of Medical Sciences in November 2015. The patient presented to our department with sudden acute c...
Acute aortic dissection is a medical emergency. Without prompt recognition and treatment, the mortality rate is high. An atypical presentation makes timely diagnosis difficult, especially if the patient is experiencing no characteristic pain. Many patients with aortic dissection are reported to have presented with various neurologic manifestations, but none with only a presentation of transient...
acute aortic dissection (aad) is the most frequent catastrophic event of the aorta; it occurs nearly three times as frequently as the rupture of abdominal aortic aneurysm . sixty percent of dissection cases are classified as proximal or type a and 40% as distal or type b, according to the stanford classification. the most frequent causes of death in acute type b dissection are aortic rupture an...
