A brief summary of selected pioneering and mechanistic contributions in the field of carbon-carbon cross-coupling reactions with palladium nanoparticles (Pd-NPs) in ionic liquids (ILs) is presented. Five exemplary model systems using the Pd-NPs/ILs approach are presented: Heck, Suzuki, Stille, Sonogashira and Ullmann reactions which all have in common the use of ionic liquids as reaction media ...

Early studies have focused on the synthesis of palladium nanoparticles within the periplasmic layer or on the outer membrane of Desulfovibrio desulfuricans and on the S-layer protein of Bacillus sphaericus. However, it has remained unclear whether the synthesis of palladium nanoparticles also takes place in the bacterial cell cytoplasm. This study reports the use of high-resolution scanning tra...

An efficient procedure and green route has been developed by using eco-friendly green synthesized palladium nanoparticles (Pd-NPs) as reusable heterogeneous nanocatalyst (Pd@nanocat) for the synthesis of diaryl ethers from the cross coupling reaction of the aryl halides with the phenol in the presence of dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) as a solvent at 110 oC under natural ligand condition capped Pd-NP...

Palladium catalysts have been widely adopted for organic synthesis and diverse industrial applications given their efficacy and safety, yet their biological in vivo use has been limited to date. Here we show that nanoencapsulated palladium is an effective means to target and treat disease through in vivo catalysis. Palladium nanoparticles (Pd-NPs) were created by screening different Pd compound...

We demonstrated that stepwise seed-mediated growth could be extended in non-aqueous solution (solvothermal synthesis) and improved as an effective method for controlling the uniform size of palladium nanoparticles (Pd NPs) in a wide range. The monodisperse Pd NPs with the size of about 5 nm were synthesized by simply reducing Pd(acac)2 with formaldehyde in different organic amine solvents. By a...

Addressed herein is the catalysis of monodisperse palladium nanoparticles (NPs) supported on chemically derived graphene (CDG) for the Suzuki–Miyaura cross-coupling of phenylboronic acid and various aryl halides. Monodisperse Pd NPs were synthesized by the solution phase reduction of palladium(II) acetylacetonate with morpholine borane complex in oleylamine and deposited on CDG via the liquid p...

The synthesis of Palladium (Pd) nanoparticles by green methods has attracted remarkable attention in recent years because of its superiority above chemical approaches, owing to its low cost and ecological compatibility. In this present work, we describe a facile and environmentally friendly synthesis of Pd nanoparticles (Pd NPs) using an aqueous extract of aerial parts of Origanum vulgare L. (O...

Noxious gas sensors were fabricated using carbon nanotubes [CNTs] with palladium nanoparticles [Pd NPs]. An increase in the resistance was observed under ammonia for both CNTs and CNT-Pd sensors. Under carbon monoxide [CO], the two sensors exhibited different behaviors: for CNT sensors, their resistance decreased slightly with CO exposure, whereas CNT-Pd sensors showed an increase in resistance...

A simple and convenient method for the preparation of ultra-small palladium nanoparticles (Pd-NPs) by a modified digestive ripening method is described. These nanoparticles catalyse the hydrogenation of the terminal alkyne groups to alkanes selectively, and show no effect on other labile protecting and internal alkyne or internal/external alkene groups present in the molecule.

The highly water-soluble palladium nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized by using the amphiphilic poly(ethylene glycol)-functionalized dicationic imidazolium-based ionic liquid (C(12)Im-PEG IL) as a stabilizing agent. The aqueous dispersed palladium NPs in the range of 1.9 ± 0.3 nm were observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The physicochemical properties of C(12)Im-PEG IL in aqueou...
