Abstract: CO2 is one of the most important greenhouse gases and its removal from flue gas and natural gas has become increasingly important. We report the synthesis, characterization, and CO2 adsorption properties of two similar metal organic frameworks; Co and Ni based MOF-74. The BET specific surface areas of MOF-74(Co) and MOF-74(Ni) MOFs were 1,406 and 1,418 mg, respectively with the identi...

We demonstrate a novel, simple synthetic method for metal (Ni) NPs in a MOF using the partial thermal decomposition of nickel(II) 2,5-dihydroxyterephthalate (Ni-MOF-74). The Ni NPs inside the Ni-MOF-74 are several nanometers in size, and the size can be precisely controlled by the heating conditions.

A novel, highly active catalyst Ni@MOF-5 showed unexpected activity at low temperature for CO2 methanation. The characterization results indicated that Ni was uniformly and highly dispersed over MOF-5. This catalyst showed high stability and almost no deactivation in long term stability tests up to 100 h.

A porous Ni(II)-MOF, which was constructed from a new bent fluorene-bridged ligand and NiCl2 under solvothermal conditions, can reversibly uptake organic solvent molecules and iodine species in a single-crystal-to-single-crystal (SC-SC) fashion. Furthermore, the obtained I2⊂Ni(II)-MOF can be a highly active heterogeneous catalyst to promote solvent-free silylcyanation of aromatic aldehydes unde...

Vapor-assisted dry-gel synthesis of the metal-organic framework-74 (MOF-74) structure, specifically Ni-MOF-74 produced from synthetic precursors using an organic-water hybrid solvent system, showed a very high yield (>90% with respect to 2,5-dihydroxyterepthalic acid) and enhanced performance. The Ni-MOF-74 obtained showed improved sorption characteristics towards CO2 and the refrigerant fluoro...

Metal-organic framework 5 (MOF-5) and bimetallic MOF-5s (Co/Zn and Ni/Zn) were prepared via a simple solvothermal method. Samples were characterized by various techniques such as powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), inductively coupled plasma (ICP) and elemental analysis (EA). The availability of efficient hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) catalysts is of high importance for solar fuel technologies aimed at reducing future carbon emissions. Even though Pt electrodes are excellent HER electrocatalysts, commercialization of large-scale hydrogen production technology requires finding an equally efficient, low-cost, earth-abundant alternative. Here, high porosity, metal-...

The synthesis of a permanently porous pillared-paddlewheel metal-organic framework (MOF) was achieved through transmetalation of Zn(II) with Ni(II). The MOF can be treated with liquid water, leading to the reversible displacement of 50% of its pillars by water molecules and resulting in a most unusual crystalline and permanently porous structure.
