Myxoma is the most common type of primary tumors of heart. Recurrence of nonfamilial myxoma is unusual and recurrence in left atrial appendage is not reported. We present a case of sporadic myxoma in the left atrium who had a successful resection. However, the patient’s constitutional symptoms caused confusion and difficulty in diagnosis. Final diagnosis was recurrent Myxoma in the left atri...
Cardiac myxoma is the most common type of human heart tumor, yet the molecular mechanism is still poorly understood. In the present study, we found that the level of myocyte enhancer factor 2D (MEF2D), a key regulatory protein for cardiac development, was elevated in specimens of cardiac myxoma, and was positively associated with the proliferation of myxoma cells. MEF2D suppression reduced the ...
Odontogenic myxoma represents an uncommon benign neoplasm comprising of 3–6% of all odontogenic tumors. This articles presents a rare case of odonogenic myxoma occurring in the mandible with a brief overlight on its etiology, immunocytohistochemistry, radilogical and treatment fetaures of odontogenic myxoma. keywords: odontogenic myxoma,fibro-myxoma,odontogenic tumours
Atrial myxomas is the most prevalent benign heart tumor which is presented with a wide variety of symptoms. We introduce a case who suffered left atrial myxoma associated with clinical weakness and thorombocytopenia. The clinical symptoms of the patient rapidly disappeared one week after cardial myxoma resection.
We describe a patient who had both a left ventricular myxoma and left ventricular hypertrophy; the myxoma was subsequently excised and revealed to produce interleukin-6. The combination of left ventricular myxoma and ventricular hypertrophy is uncommon. Interleukin-6 secreted from the myxoma may be an important factor in the pathogenesis of ventricular hypertrophy in this patient.
Primary cardiac tumors are rare and myxoma is the most common tumor among them. Cardiac myxoma usually occurs in the left atrium. Myxoma originating from mitral valve is extremely rare. We report a case of mitral valve myxoma. The tumor originated from the anterior mitral valve leaflet. The tumor was completely removed and replacement of the mitral valve was not done.
