in this study, polyaniline molecule (emeraldine base) is modeled as a molecular wire and the effects of the metal/molecule coupling strength and the molecule length on the current-voltage (i-v) characteristics are numerically investigated. using a tight-binding hamiltonian model, the methods based on non-equilibrium green’s function theory, landauer formalism and newns-anderson model, our calcu...
There is a great interest in the electronic properties of conjugated polymers. Numerous works on the electronic and conduction properties of single-chain conjugated polymers have been published. From an electronic conduction point of view, these systems are quasi-one dimensional. The aim of this paper is to try to investigate corresponding properties in conducting polymers in higher of one-di...
In this paper, on the basis of tight-binding model and a generalized Green- function method as well as Lanczos algorithm procedure, the effects of the metal-molecule coupling(MMC) strength on the electronic transmission through a metal-single molecule-metal(MMM) system is investigated. Using the Landauer formalism we study some of the significant conductance properties of this system as a mol...
Major recent ad ances: Amphiphilic peptides, in other words, peptides that contain hydrophobic and hydrophilic regions along their lengths, have been molecularly designed and exploited in various ways. Most notable advancements in the past few years are their proposed use for scaffolds for nanometer structures such as molecular wires and mineralization of hydroxyapatite crystals in a particular...
We consider electrical transport properties of a molecular wire under the influence of time-dependent electromagnetic fields. A formalism based on Floquet theory is derived which allows one to calculate both the dc current through the molecular wire and the associated noise power. Approximations for the case of a weak wire-lead coupling are studied in detail.
The current-voltage and the conductance-voltage characteristics are analyzed for a particular type of molecular wire embedded between two electrodes. The wire is characterized by internal molecular units where the lowest occupied molecular orbital (LUMO) levels are positioned much above the Fermi energy of the electrodes, as well as above the LUMO levels of the terminal wire units. The latter a...
