a new series of thiazolidinedione derivatives were synthesized. the structures of these compounds were established by means of ir, 1h-nmr and elemental analysis. all of the compounds were screened for antidiabetic activity on albino rats. most of the compounds showed significant antidiabetic activity when compared with the standard drug glibenclamide.

sno nanoparticles were synthesized using microwave–assisted hydrothermal method. it was noticed that at 300 and 600 watt microwave power, sno formed and remained in the tetragonal phase. at 900 watt, sno2 started appearing and a mixture of sno and sno2 phases coexisted. the particle size varied from ~2 to ~13 nm at 300 to 900 watt radiation power. the uv-v absorption spectra showed the excitoni...

Microwave radiation, an electromagnetic radiation, is widely use as a source of heating in organic synthesis. The basic mechanisms observed in microwave assisted synthesis are dipolar polarization and conduction. Microwave assisted organic synthesis (MAOS) has emerged as a new “lead” in organic synthesis. The technique offers simple, clean, fast, efficient, and economic for the synthesis of a l...

The term green chemistry is defined as “the invention, design and application of chemical products and processes to reduce or to eliminate the use and generation of hazardous substances”. The major applications of green chemistry principles and practice renders control, regulation, and remediation, hence resultant environmental benefit can be expressed in terms of economic impact .It also invol...

2-Pyridones are important heterocyclic compounds that are widely used in medical chemistry, and their various derivatives have significant biological and medical applications. In this paper, the synthesis of 2-pyridones as well as 2-pyridone-based compounds, such as 2-quinolones, using microwave assisted organic chemistry is reviewed. The review is divided in three parts. In the first part, mic...

Microwave-assisted organic synthesis is an enabling technology for accelerating drug discovery and development processes. Microwave instruments are used principally in three areas of drug research: the screening of organic drug formulae, peptide synthesis, and DNA amplification. The features of microwave-assisted organic synthesis technology include reduction of time for a chemical reaction, in...

Application of a dynamic microwave power system in the chemical synthesis of some phenothiazine and quinoline derivatives is described. Heterocyclic ring formation, aromatic nucleophilic substitution and heterocyclic aldehydes/ketones condensation reactions were performed on solid support, or under solvent free reaction conditions. The microwave-assisted Duff formylation of phenothiazine was ac...

An efficient synthesis of a methyl derivative of the indoloquinoline alkaloid cryptosanguinolentine based on microwave-assisted reactions is described. The microwave-assisted synthesis of an intermediate 4-hydroxy-2-methylquinoline yielded 86% of the desired product and other intermediates prepared yielded high % of products in shorter reaction times, under optimum conditions, as compared to tr...

The microwave assisted synthesis nowadays attracts a great deal of attention. Monoclinic phase VO2 (M) was prepared from NH4VO3 and H2C2O4 · 2H2O by a rapid microwave assisted technique. The synthesis parameters, microwave irradiation time, microwave power, and calcinations temperature were systematically varied and their influences on the structure and morphology were evaluated. The microwave ...

A new simple procedure for microwave-assisted organic synthesis under continuous flow processing has been developed for use in a monomodal microwave synthesizer with direct temperature control using the instrument's in-built IR sensor. This design makes optimum use of the standing wave cavity to improve the energy efficiency of microwave-assisted flow reactions.
