Mencha River is one of the largest river in the region of Jijel, Algeria. The human activities such as urban discharges, industrial, agricultural and livestock have significant effects on the quality of water. Because of its importance in the agricultural activities and dense population residing at its banks, the river faces several challenges from various anthropogenic activities. This situati...

djendjen river is one of the largest rivers in the region of jijel (algeria). human activities such as urban discharges, industrial, agricultural, and livestock have significant effects on the quality of water. the present study attempts to evaluate the quality of water along the banks of the djendjen river at different sampling sites, using physico-chemical and bacteriological methods. the col...

INTRODUCTION Sarcopenia is currently best described as an age-related decline in skeletal muscle mass and function. However, no consensus exists as to how to best quantify muscle function in older adults. The muscle quality index (MQI) was recently recommended as an ideal evidence-based assessment of functional status in older adults. Nevertheless, the usefulness of MQI to assess physical funct...

Hydromorphological stream assessment has significantly expanded over the last years, but a need has emerged from recent reviews for more comprehensive, process-based methods that consider the character and dynamics of the river with greater accuracy. With this as a focus, a series of hydromorphological tools have been developed and/or further extended in Europe within the context of the REFORM ...

PURPOSE To (a) critically appraise available randomized controlled trials (RCTs) addressing the efficacy of long-chain omega-3 fatty acids as secondary agents for prevention of hypertriglyceridemia and (b) make recommendations for clinical practice. DATA SOURCES Two independent reviewers examined all RCTs from 1994 to 2003 identified in several databases, extracted data from each study, and u...

The ecological assessment of all surface water bodies in Europe according to the Water Framework Directive involves monitoring biological, physicochemical and hydromorphological quality elements. For particular, there are numerous methods that have been developed adopted by EU member countries. With this study, we compared three different (River Habitat Survey, Morphological Quality Index River...

Considered as the main stream of hydrographic network Mactaa’s basin, in west highlands Algeria, both wadis, Mekerra and Saïda, are affected by pollution which is generated anthropogenic activities. Makara Saïda wadis cross urban areas Sidi-Bel-Abbes respectively, constitute a real problem human safety. In order to identify state on these samples have been collected during three periods time (J...

Freshwater ecosystems in the Indo-Burma biodiversity hotspot face immediate threats through habitat loss and species extinction. Systems to monitor ecological status trends are therefore crucially needed. Myanmar is part of but with no past experience biomonitoring freshwaters. In this study, we aimed assess a lowland river network south-central by identifying quantifying pressures using macroi...

We present a polynomial time algorithm for the Minimum Quartet Inconsistency (MQI) problem when the number of quartet errors is O(n). This improves the previously best algorithmic result saying that if the number of quartet errors is at most (n− 3)/2 then the MQI problem can be solved in polynomial time. © 2006 Elsevier B.V.
