Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring (NILM) is a technique that determines the load composition of a household through a single point of measurement at the main power feed. Here we presented an unsupervised approach to determine the number of appliances in the household, their power consumption and the state of each one at any given moment.

purpose trainers and physical fitness coaches’ need a useful tool to assess training loads to avoid overtraining. however, perceived scales or questionnaires were required. therefore, the purpose of this study was to assess whether a short 8-item questionnaire of fatigue could be a useful tool for monitoring changes in perceived training load and strain among elite rugby sevens (7s) players dur...

INTRODUCTION Routine viral load monitoring for HIV-1 management of persons on antiretroviral therapy (ART) has been recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) to identify treatment failure. However, viral load testing represents a substantial cost in resource constrained health care systems. The central challenge is whether and how viral load monitoring may be delivered such that it max...

Background. In order to minimize overtraining, a reliable method is required to analyze training loads. Objectives. The objective of this study was to see if session Rate of Perceived Exertion (sRPE) is a valuable tool for tracking changes in perceived training load and strain among Malaysia rugby 15-a-side players during preparation for a significant game. Methods. Twenty-eight (n=28) elite ...

OBJECTIVES Many paediatric antiretroviral therapy (ART) programmes in Southern Africa rely on CD4⁺ to monitor ART. We assessed the benefit of replacing CD4⁺ by viral load monitoring. DESIGN A mathematical modelling study. METHODS A simulation model of HIV progression over 5 years in children on ART, parameterized by data from seven South African cohorts. We simulated treatment programmes wi...

BACKGROUND In high-income countries, viral load is routinely measured to detect failure of antiretroviral therapy (ART) and guide switching to second-line ART. Viral load monitoring is not generally available in resource-limited settings. We examined switching from nonnucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI)-based first-line regimens to protease inhibitor-based regimens in Africa, Sou...

Non-intrusive load monitoring (NILM) identifies used appliances in a total power load according to their individual load characteristics. In this paper we propose an evolutionary optimization algorithm to identify appliances, which are modeled as on/off appliances. We evaluate our proposed evolutionary optimization by simulation with Matlab, where we use a random total load and randomly generat...

Network monitoring applications are prone to continuous overload situations due to the extreme and highly variable data rates of network traffic, traffic anomalies and network attacks. These overload situations can have a severe and unpredictable impact on the accuracy of monitoring applications, right when they are most valuable to network operators. Load shedding via traffic sampling has rece...
